Today is an important day. Fifty years ago a dedicated group of people crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was not an event greeted by cheers, but by jeers. It has been described as Bloody Sunday, but today things are different. No they are not perfect but they are different. We have a black president. It is hard to believe that 50 years ago blacks in Alabama blacks could not vote and now a black man leads this nation. It is also noteworthy that former President Bush was in attendance. This is a day that we all have a right to be proud of what we have done and what we are doing. Please read the linked story there are great photos from the event.
