The Bible As Best Black History Book – The Glory of Ham – Was Abraham Black?

For years scholars, theologians, and archaeologists have debated the answer to the question, “How did the Israelites look physically?” Although the Bible and other historical documents have left much proof of the physical appearance of the biblical Israelites, much of this information is still unknown to the masses.The popular belief today among Christians, scholars and theologians, is that the people known as “Ashkenazi Jews” are the direct descendants of the biblical Israelites. Can this be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt? The answer to that is NO. The Bible, which will be used here as the main source, supported by history and archaeology proves that the Ashkenazi Jews are not the physical descendants of the biblical Hebrews. In addition, it reveals who the true descendants are. The answer may leave you in shock.Israel is mentioned in the bible over 2,500 times. The scriptures contain the Hebrews’ entire history. In fact, no other people on the face of the Earth have such an extensive recorded history, not even the ancient Egyptians. Every thing we need to know about the ancient Hebrews is contained in Scripture. So, let’s examine these facts, information that to this day remains unknown or hidden to many bible readers.
Gen.10:6 Ham’s descendants were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7 Cush’s descendants were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. Raamah’s descendants were Sheba and Dedan.

The history of the Israelite nation began in Egypt, the Land of Ham. They entered Egypt 66 in number, (not including Joseph, his wife and two sons who were already in Egypt), and left numbering over two million people. Ancient Israel spent 430 years in Egypt. For half that time they enjoyed good favor with the Egyptians, but for the remainder of those years they were enslaved and horribly mistreated by them.
One of the first facts the Bible gives us about Israel (Ysrayl in the Hebrew tongue) is in regard to their physical appearance. Throughout scripture Israel is described as looking like the sons of Ham (Khawm in the Hebrew tongue).
Ham was one of Noah’s three sons, Shem and Japhet were the other two. Noah’s descendants repopulated the Earth after the Great Flood. Ham’s descendants are traced to the families of Africa. Ham (Khawm) in Hebrew means BLACK, HOT AND BURNT.
Ham had four sons,
CUSH (Ethiopians / Cushites),
MIZRAIM (Egyptians / Khemet),
PHUT (Ancient Libyans or Somalian),
and CANAAN (Canaanite, the original inhabitants of the Land of Israel) Genesis 10:6-19.All four of Ham’s sons and their descendants settled in and around the Continent of Africa. This includes the so called “Middle East” that is also a part of the Continent of Africa. Let us begin with the story of Jacob’s second Youngest son Joseph, and his time in Egypt. Joseph was one of the twelve sons of Jacob (Yaaqob in Hebrew). Jacob sired Joseph in his old age, and he was clearly his favorite son. This caused Joseph’s brothers to become jealous of him. Ultimately, their jealousy resulted in Joseph being sold by Arab merchants as a slave to Egyptians.
The foundations of ancient Chaldea, were laid as early as those of Egypt. In fact they were the sister colonies of a parent state. The earliest civilized inhabitants were Sumerians. 5000 B. C. the land was full of city-states. The Sanskrit books of India, called Chaldea one of the divisions of Cusha-Dwipa, the first organized government of the world. These Sumerians were the inventors of the cuneiform system of writing, which was later adopted by their Semitic conquerors.
The northern division of Babylon was called Accad, comprehending Babylon, the southern Sumer, including Erech and Ur. North of Accad were the Semitic (Hamitic) tribes which so largely made up the blood of Assyria in later days.

We know that Nimrod was the son of Cush. Babylon had two elements in her population in the beginning. The northern Accadians and the southern Sumerians were both Cushites. The finds of recent explorations in the Mesopotamian valley reveal that these ancient inhabitants were black, with the cranial formation of Ethiopians.
nThe art, science and culture of the earlier unmixed Chaldeans was Cushite.
Rawlinson speaking in his Ancient Monarchies decided that the ruins of Chaldea show Cushite origin. The names of Chaldea and Ethiopia are linked in a way to render any other interpretation impossible. The great city of the earlier period was Niffer a corruption of Nimrod. The language of the ruins is radically different from the Semitic tongue of the Assyrian empire.
Rawlinson said concerning the Babylonians said, “Though not possessed of many natural advantages, the Chaldean people exhibited a fertility of invention, a genius of energy which places them high in the scale of nations and most especially those descended from Hamitic stock.”
The Chaldean Noah entered the ark with his wife and children. Upon the recession of the waters he sent out three birds three times. He built an altar and offered sacrifice.
nThe life of the Semitic and Hamitic races must have been closely associated after the deluge. So close is the apparent relationship, that some authorities have looked upon Abraham as Hamitic. Abraham came from Ur of the Chaldees. But he descended by direct line front a Semitic father. His mother may have been Hamitic for Abraham was spoken of as a Chaldean.
Over the course of time Joseph became Viceroy of Egypt and was second in command to Pharaoh in authority. There was a famine in Canaan, where Jacob and his sons lived. (Pharaoh had a dream which Joseph interpreted. His dream told of the forthcoming famine and gave Egypt an opportunity to prepare by storing food.) So, Jacob sent his ten sons to Egypt to buy bread. When Joseph’s ten brothers came into Egypt they were brought before him. Joseph recognized his brothers, but they didn’t recognize him (Genesis 42:1-8).
Since the biblical Egyptians were a black-skinned people, Joseph had to be black-skinned also. If he were white skinned, as over half the world’s Jews are today, his brothers would have recognized him easily among the black- skinned Egyptians, or they would have been very curious as to why this white-skinned Hebrew was ruling in Egypt. But his brothers just thought Joseph was another Egyptian.
The ancient Egyptians of Joseph time were indeed what we know today as black skinned. This is a fact attested to by many.
Gerald Massey, English writer and author of the book, Egypt the Light of the World wrote, “The dignity is so ancient that the insignia of the Pharaoh evidently belonged to the time when Egyptians wore nothing but the girdle of the Negro.” (p 251)
Sir Richard Francis Burton, a 19th century English explorer, writer and linguist in 1883 wrote to Gerald Massey, “You are quite right about the “AFRICAN” origin of the Egyptians. I have 100 human skulls to prove it.”
Scientist, R. T. Prittchett, states in his book The Natural History of Man, “In their complex and many of the complexions and in physical peculiarities the Egyptians were an “AFRICAN” race (p 124-125).
The Ancient Greek historian Herodotus, who visited Egypt in the 5th century B.C.E., saw the Egyptians face-to-face and described them as black-skinned with woolly hair.
Anthropologist, Count Constatin de Volney (1727-1820), spoke about the race of the Egyptians that produced the Pharaohs. He later paid tribute to Herodotus’ discovery when he said:
“The ancient Egyptians were true Negroes of the same type as all native born Africans. That being so, we can see how their blood mixed for several centuries with that of the Romans and Greeks, must have lost the intensity of it’s original color, while retaining none the less the imprint of its original mold. We can even state as a general principle that the face (referring to The Sphinx) is a kind of monument able, in many cases, to attest to or shed light on historical evidence on the origins of the people.”
The fact that the ancient Egyptians were black-skinned prompted Volney to make the following statement:

“What a subject for meditation, just think that the race of black men today our slaves and the object of our scorn, is the very race to which we owe our arts, science and even the use of our speech.”
The testimony of the ancients, the Bible, many Egyptologists, along with archaeology confirms that the Egyptians during biblical times were a BLACK-SKINNED PEOPLE. This is important to know, as we continue, we will see that the bible on multiple occasions describes the ancient Hebrews as looking like the Egyptians.
Next, in Genesis chapter 50 verses 7-11, scripture will describes ALL the Hebrews as looking like the ancient Egyptians.
After Jacob (who’s name was changed to Ysrayl – Israel) died in the Land of Egypt, all the Hebrews and Egyptians went down to the Land of Canaan to bury him (He asked his son to bury him in the Land of Canaan with his forefathers Genesis 49:29-30).
Verses 7-8 state that all the elders of Pharaoh’s house and all the elders of the Land of Egypt along with all the Hebrews (except for their small children) went down.
VERSE 9 says, “It was a very great company.”
VERSE 11 says, that the Canaanite saw the funeral procession and said “THIS IS A GRIEVOUS MOURNING TO THE EGYPTIANS”.
But remember this was a mixed multitude of Hebrews and Egyptians going to bury a HEBREW, and the Canaanite identified them both as Egyptians. WHY? Because the Canaanites saw a great company of black-skinned people who were all probably dressed according to the customs and fashions of Egypt, and they all looked liked native (black) Egyptians.
If the Hebrews were a white-skinned people, as we have been led to believe, the Canaanite who were familiar with both the Hebrews and Egyptians would have acknowledged them both by saying, “THIS IS A GRIEVOUS MOURNING TO THE EGYPTIANS AND HEBREWS.” The scripture goes on to say that the Canaanite named the place where they saw this great mourning for a HEBREW Abel Mizraim which means the meadow of Egypt/Mizraim or Mourning of the Egyptians.
Now let’s go to the most famous story, of the Hebrews sojourn in Egypt, which would be the story of Moses. Many years after the death of Joseph, His brothers and all that generation that entered Egypt during the time he was viceroy. The Hebrew population in Egypt grew tremendously. Because of this, they were no longer looked upon as friendly neighbors. In fact, the Egyptians considered them hostile enemies and enslaved them. (Other ethnic groups were enslaved by the Egyptians during this time also.)
Because of the Hebrews’ population growth the Egyptians decided they would impose upon them their own form of birth control. Pharaoh decreed that all Hebrew males are killed at birth (Exodus 1), this brings us directly to the story of Moses.
Moses was born a Hebrew – Israelite from the tribe of Levi (Exodus 2:1-3). He spent 40 years in the House of Pharaoh (Acts 7:23) and from the time he was an infant, passed as the Pharaoh’s grandson (Exodus 2: 6, 10). This was during the same time that Pharaoh ordered all Hebrew males under the age of two to be killed. So, if Pharaoh, was a black-skinned descendant of Khawm / Ham, which he was, it would of course follow that Moses was black-skinned also.
Many Scholars say the Pharaoh who was on the throne of Egypt at the time of Moses’ birth, was Pharaoh Seti I. He was the father of Rameses II, the Pharaoh of the oppression, also known as Rameses the Great.
George Rawlinson, an English author wrote a book entitled History of Egypt. On page 252, he gives a description of Seti I. He states: “SETI’S FACE WAS THOROUGHLY AFRICAN. HE HAD A STORMY FACE WITH A DEPRESSED FLAT NOSE, THICK LIPS AND HEAVY CHIN.”
Moses had to have the same physical characteristics because again, he was raised in the house of Pharaoh, as the grandson of Pharaoh, when Pharaoh ordered all other Hebrew males to be killed at birth. If the Israelites were a white-skinned people, how could Moses the Hebrew survive (secretly) in the house of Pharaoh among black-skinned Egyptians for 40 years, and not be noticed.
Furthermore, after giving the decree (himself) to kill all Hebrew males, how could Pharaoh face and rule over his people, if he knowingly had one living in his house with all the rights and privileges of his own family? Moses survived 40 years in the palace of Pharaoh because he was a black-skinned man just as the Egyptians were. Just as the Canaanite couldn’t tell the Hebrews from the Egyptians. Pharaoh couldn’t either, or Moses would have been killed instantly.

This is an actual temple drawing of Pharaoh Seti I, taken from a temple in Egypt. This is the Pharaoh who scholars identify as being on the throne of Egypt at the time of Moses’ birth. It is believed that Seti I was Moses’ “foster grandfather”.
Ancient Egyptian Queen Tiye 1391 B.C.E – 1353 B.C.E.

This is a bust of the ancient Egyptian Queen Tiye. She was the wife of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and the mother of the Pharaoh Amenhotep IV (Akenaton). She was also the grandmother of the boy, King Tutankhamen, more commonly known as King Tut. Below is a statue of him. This is how the Egyptians looked during biblical times.

This is a statue of the boy king (King Tut), this statue was found in his tomb, among many of his treasures in Egypt, during an archaeological excavation in 1922. Scholars say king Tut was on the throne of Egypt, a few years before the Israelites’ Exodus.

Above is one of the pictures of the reconstructed image of King Tut. This image comes from the website, it is from a soon to be aired program called the “Assassination of King Tut”. The image was put together from the skeleton of the King by using forensic science and sophisticated computer programs. King Tut and the Egyptians of biblical times were a black skinned people. Let the pictures tell the story. The Truth is beginning to come forth, Praise Yah.

Scripture tells us that Moses killed an Egyptian, after he saw him mistreating a Hebrew. So Moses had to flee from Egypt for his life because Pharaoh found out and sought to kill him (Exodus 2:12-15).
Moses fled to the land of Midian where he helped seven daughters of the priest of Midian water their flock, after chasing away some bully shepherds. The girls went home to their father, Reuel and told him what happened.
They told him that an EGYPTIAN saved them and watered their flock (Exodus 2:16-19). Notice they didn’t say a Hebrew in Egyptian clothing saved us, and they described Moses as a black-skinned descendant of Ham (Egyptian). Further proof that Moses was black-skinned can be found in Exodus 4:6-7.
In this passage YHWH, (The Creator’s name in Hebrew) is showing Moses miracles so that he can prove to the children of Israel who sent him. YHWH or the abbreviated Yah tells Moses to put his hand into his bosom, which he does. When he takes his hand out, it is LEPROUS (White) as snow. If Moses was already white-skinned, what would have been the miracle in turning his hand white?
But, since Moses and the rest of the Hebrews were a black skinned people, this would have been a very powerful miracle, to turn his hand (skin) the opposite color of the rest of his flesh.
Verse 7 says, Yah told Moses to put his hand back into his bosom, and it turned as his other flesh. Meaning that the rest of his body (skin) was other than white or the opposite of white, which is black.
In the book of Numbers, chapter 12 verse 1, Moses’ sister and brother, Miriam and Aaron spoke out against him because he married an Ethiopian woman, (not because she was black skinned, but because she was of another culture. / Nation) their behavior angered Yah. Verse 10 says, He TURNED MIRIAM LEPROUS, WHITE AS SNOW. Once again if Miriam, who was a Hebrew, was white to begin with, what would have been the curse of turning a white-skinned person white?

From what history has taught us concerning the Hebrews Physical appearance, it is apparent that the Hollywood depiction of Moses is at the very least inaccurate, and at the most could be viewed as a racist misrepresentation.

Donnelly affirms that Egypt, Chaldea, India, Greece and Rome passed the torch of civilization from one to another. They added nothing to the arts that existed at the earliest period of Egyptian history. These arts continued without material change until two or three hundred years ago. For all these years men did not improve, but perpetuated. The age of Columbus possessed only printing that was unknown to the Egyptians. Egyptian civilization was highest at its first appearance showing that they drew from a fountain higher than themselves. In that day Egypt worshipped only one supreme being. At the time of Menes, this race had long been architects, sculptors, painters, mythologists and theologians. What king of modern times ever
ndevoted himself to medicine and the writing of medical books to benefit mankind, as did the son of Menes? For six thousand years men did not advance beyond the arts of Egypt.
Imhotep lived during the reign of King Djoser (2630-2611BC) and was the architect of the step pyramid at Saqquara, the first pyramid ever built in Egypt. Born a commoner, he quickly rose through the ranks of the temple and court to become a vizier and high priest. As a member of the Pharaoh’s court he was an architect, scribe, priest and physician. He pioneered the building of pyramids and was later deified.
Acts 21:37-38 states that Paul, (Shaul in Hebrew) the apostle, was being led into a castle by a chief captain. Paul spoke to the chief in Greek, asking permission to speak with him. The chief captain was surprised that Paul could speak Greek and in Verse 38, asks Paul, “Are not you that EGYPTIAN?” Paul responded, (Verse 39) “I am a man of Israel (Hebrew).”
In order for this chief captain to mistake Paul (the Hebrew) for a black-skinned Egyptian, Paul had to look like an Egyptian, as scripture tells us the whole nation of Israel did. This is why in the book of Matthew 2:13, the angel of Yah told Joseph to arise and take the young child Yahshua, (The Messiah’s true Hebrew name is Yahshua) and his mother Mary (Miriam in Hebrew) and FLEE INTO EGYPT. He was told to stay there until he received further instruction, because Herod would seek the young child to destroy him.
Joseph, Miriam and Yahshua were told to flee into Egypt, (Africa) not for military protection, because during this time, Egypt was a Roman province under Roman control. They fled into Egypt because Egypt was still a “black” country, populated by a majority of black-skinned people (Egyptians). Joseph, Miriam and Yahshua would have been just another black-skinned family among many. Remember, they fled into Egypt to HIDE from Herod who was seeking to kill Yahshua.
If Yahshua and the rest of the Hebrews looked like those pictures of the “Christian Christ”, it would have been hard for him to hide in Egypt and not be noticed. NOTE: the above fact about Yahshua hiding in Egypt was attested to by a biblical scholar on a BBC produced program last year (2001).
The Program was called ‘THE COMPLETE JESUS’. The scholar stated that it would have been hard for Yahshua to hide among the Egyptians, if he didn’t look like the Egyptians, he was saying that Yahshua could not have been white skinned. He admitted in the program that Yahshua was a dark /black-skinned man.
Now back to our lesson.
He also made mention that the Israelites of the first to third centuries wore their hair in Afro’s. This is only the tip of the iceberg, you can’t hold down the truth.
Herod was put on the throne of Israel by the Romans, and Egypt was under Roman dominion. All Herod had to do was check with the Roman officials in Egypt to find out if there were any Hebrews with baby boys around. But, since the Hebrews and the Egyptians looked the same physically, it would have been hard to single out a Hebrew family among the Egyptians.
Ancient Egyptians

When Joseph, Miriam and Yahshua fled into Egypt, they were among people who look like the couple in the above picture. As was mentioned, the ancient Egyptians were the descendants of Noah’s son, Khawm, or Ham in English. Khawm means black, hot and burnt. The ancient Egyptians of biblical times called their land and themselves Khemet, which in their tongue means “THE LAND OF BLACKS.” The word Khemet is nothing but a variation on the word Khawm in the language of ancient Egypt.
In Psalm 78:51, Egypt is called “The House of Ham (Khawm).”
Psalm 105:23,27 calls Egypt the land of Khawm (Ham),
The Bible calls Egypt the land of Khawm, and remember one of the meanings of Khawm is black, so The Bible is calling Egypt “The Land of Black” which is what Khemet means. Egypt is called the land of Khawm because the Egyptians were descendants of Noah’s son Khawm. This is more than likely the reason they called themselves Khemet. The Bible supports the fact that the Egyptians were a black-skinned people.

He is the father of the princess captioned below. By now it should be clear what color the Egyptians were. Don’t forget, this is what THE BIBLE says the children of Israel looked like.

Rabbi Capers Funnye celebrated Martin Luther King Day this year in New York City at the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue, a mainstream Reform congregation, in the company of about 700 fellow Jews — many of them black. The organizers of the event had reached out to four of New York’s Black Jewish synagogues in the hope of promoting Jewish diversity, and they weren’t disappointed. African-American Jews, largely from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens, many of whom had never been in a predominantly white synagogue, made up about a quarter of the audience. Most of the visiting women wore traditional African garb; the men stood out because, though it was a secular occasion, most kept their heads covered. But even with your eyes closed you could tell who was who: the black Jews and the white Jews clapped to the music on different beats.

Rabbi Capers Funnye
Funnye, the chief rabbi of the Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation in Chicago, one of the largest black synagogues in America, was a featured speaker that night. The overflowing audience came out in a snowstorm to hear his thoughts about two men: the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama. King is Funnye’s hero. Obama, whose inauguration was to take place the following day in Washington, is family — the man who married Funnye’s cousin Michelle.

A compact, serious-looking man in his late 50s, Funnye (pronounced fu-NAY) wore a dark business suit and a large gray knit skullcap. He sat expressionless, collecting his thoughts, as Joshua Nelson and his Kosher Gospel Band steamed through their sanctified rendition of the Hebrew hymn “Adon Olam.” Nelson, a black Jew, was raised in two Jewish worlds — a white Reform temple in New Jersey and a Black Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn — and he borrows from both. The first time the Rev. Al Sharpton heard a recording of Nelson’s “Adon Olam,” he said, “I can hear that’s Mahalia Jackson, but what language is she singing in?”

Mary Funnye, Capers’s wife, tapped her foot to the music and smiled with apparent equanimity, but her husband knew she was seething inside. “Mary has been a rabbi’s wife for a long time,” he told me a few weeks later. “She has an excellent synagogue poker face. But she really wanted to be in Washington that night” — for the early inauguration festivities — “not New York. And you can’t really blame her.”

The Funnyes were invited to Washington by the Obamas for a full calendar of inaugural events, including a dinner that evening held by the president-elect for his family and close advisers. Mary’s brother, Frank White Jr., a businessman who served as a prominent member of Obama’s national finance committee, was invited. So were three of Funnye’s sisters. It was going to be the family reunion of the year, the social event of the season and a crowning moment in American history. Mary had a formal gown ready. But here she was, singing “Adon Olam,” as she did virtually every Shabbat in Chicago.

Still, to be fair, this night was a historic moment for her husband too. For the first time in a rabbinical career stretching back to 1985, Funnye had been invited to speak at a white, mainstream synagogue in New York. Plenty of black Christian ministers, in a spirit of ecumenism and racial harmony, have addressed Jewish congregations in the city. But a black rabbi? Many American Jews regard the very concept as an oxymoron, or even, given the heterodoxies of much Black Jewish theology, some sort of heresy. Funnye has been trying for years to demonstrate that he and his fellow Black Jews belong in the Jewish mainstream. Mostly he has been ignored.

But it is hard to ignore a man with a cousin in the White House. Tonight was payback for all those years of stupid jokes (“Funnye, you don’t look Jewish”), insulting questions and long, wondering stares. Funnye was finally being given the stage at a high-profile Jewish event. “My Broadway debut,” he said, without evident irony, as he prepared to go on. “Been a long time getting here, but I’m ready.”

Capers C. Funnye Jr. was born in South Carolina in 1952 and raised on the South Side of Chicago. His paternal relatives are Gullahs from the barrier islands off Charleston, S.C. The Gullah community has retained many of its original African customs and much of its ancestral language. On his first visit to Nigeria, in 2001, Funnye was delighted to discover that variations of his family name are common in Africa. On his maternal side, he is a Robinson. His mother, Verdelle, was the sister of Fraser Robinson Jr. — Michelle Obama’s grandfather. That makes Funnye and Michelle Obama first cousins, once removed.

And not that removed, really. “Our families were very close,” Funnye says. “All through my childhood, our families were in and out of each other’s houses, celebrating holidays together, that kind of thing.” As kids, Funnye and Michelle Obama weren’t peers (he was nearly 12 years older), but they connected in earnest years later, in 1992, at her wedding, and a friendship developed. The Obamas, like Funnye, were involved in community organizing in Chicago, and they saw one another often, socially and professionally. It didn’t surprise Funnye, he told me, that when he and Mary went to Washington to attend Obama’s inaugural ceremony after Funnye’s speech in New York, they were in the good seats, near Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg. Family is family.

Funnye was not always Jewish. When he went off to college at Howard University in 1970, he was the conventionally Christian son of upwardly striving parents. But he was moved by the radicalized atmosphere of the day. Black nationalism, Afrocentrism and cultural separatism were in vogue, and Funnye came to see Christianity as an alien religion imposed on blacks by white slave masters. “I was never an atheist,” he told me. “I just wanted to find the right way to worship him.”

During a summer job in Chicago, some friends introduced Funnye to Rabbi Robert Devine, the spiritual leader of the House of Israel Congregation. Devine preached that Africans were the true descendants of the biblical Hebrews, and that Jesus, the Messiah, was a black man. The message appealed to Funnye. Devine baptized him in a public swimming pool, and Funnye entered the complicated world of black American Jewry.

Estimates of how many black Jews there are in the United States range widely. It all depends on who is doing the counting and what criteria are being used. There are Jews who happen to be black: kids adopted by white Jewish families, for example, or the offspring of mixed parents. (Orthodox Judaism recognizes as Jewish the offspring of only Jewish mothers; Reform, the largest American denomination, accepts patrilineal as well as matrilineal descent.) There are also African-Americans who have been converted to various forms of Judaism, as well as Jews of Ethiopian origin who immigrated to Israel and subsequently moved to America. Probably no more than 2 percent of the American Jewish community is made up of black Jews.

There have been African-Americans with blood ties to white Jews since at least the early 19th century. Among them was Julia Ann Isaacs, the daughter of a white Jewish man, David Isaacs, and a free black woman, Nancy Ann West. In 1832 Julia married Eston Hemings, the son of Sally Hemings and — more than likely — Thomas Jefferson. Another was Francis Cardozo, a freeborn black man of Jewish descent (and a distant relative of the Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cardozo), who during Reconstruction served as secretary of state and treasurer of South Carolina. But in almost no such early cases did the offspring of black-Jewish unions identify themselves as Jewish.
Black Judaism as a self-conscious religious identity arrived in America in Lawrence, Kan., in 1896. A charismatic Baptist named William Saunders Crowdy established a black congregation called the Church of God and Saints of Christ, where he preached that Africans were the true descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. Didn’t the Bible tell that Moses married a black-skinned woman? he asked. And that King Solomon bestowed on the queen of Sheba, an Ethiopian, “all her desire”?

One implication of Crowdy’s doctrine was that blacks were God’s chosen people. This might have been a hanging offense in Kansas at the time had white people been aware of it, which they mostly weren’t. The denomination practiced an eclectic, “roll your own” brand of religion that combined beliefs and practices of the Old and New Testaments. Crowdy’s tabernacles practiced male infant circumcision, observed Saturday as the Sabbath, celebrated Passover and other Jewish holidays — but venerated Jesus Christ.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, Crowdy’s faith offered freed slaves and their offspring something that mainstream Christianity did not: a grand historical identity and a distinctively black mode of religious expression. This proved to be a potent mix. Since the formation of the Church of God and Saints of Christ, there have been more than 200 congregations in the United States, Africa and the Caribbean. Today the group still has more than 50 affiliated congregations. In addition, a great many other “messianic” Jewish houses of worship have flourished, including Rabbi Robert Devine’s congregation, where Funnye first came to regard himself as a Black Jew.

“When I joined Rabbi Devine’s shul, I felt less like I was converting to Judaism than reverting,” Funnye recalls. “Going back to something.”

For a few years after leaving Howard, as he worked a series of jobs in Chicago, Funnye found Devine’s conception of Judaism to be rewarding. But he eventually became uncomfortable with the hybrid nature of Devine’s theology. As his interest in Judaism deepened, Funnye was increasingly drawn to the more conventional teachings of a black, Brooklyn-based rabbi named Levi Ben Levy, the spiritual leader of the Hebrew Israelite movement. “He taught me that real Judaism isn’t mixed in with Christianity,” Funnye says. He studied with Levy for five years, long distance from Chicago; the curriculum included Biblical Hebrew, liturgy, standard rabbinic texts and Jewish history from the perspective of African originalism. In 1985, Levy ordained Funnye as a rabbi, although no mainstream denomination accepted the title or Levy’s right to confer it.

Very few white rabbis were even aware of the existence of the Hebrew Israelites. The movement was established in the early 20th century by Wentworth Matthew, a charismatic figure who arrived in Harlem at the end of World War I, claiming to be from Africa, although he was more likely born in St. Kitts. Matthew proclaimed himself a rabbi and founded a congregation in New York called the Commandment Keepers. He was influenced by the idea that blacks were the original Hebrews; but unlike William Saunders Crowdy, who lived in rural Kansas, Matthew modeled his congregation on the white Judaism he saw around him in New York. He called his a storefront a shul, introduced a standard Hebrew prayer book and weekly Sabbath Torah readings, discouraged excessive shows of emotion during worship, insisted on separate seating for women and men and instituted a modified version of kosher dietary laws. He also, and crucially, denied the divinity of Jesus and the truth of the New Testament.

As Matthew’s group grew, it became far more “orthodox” in its Jewish ritual and code of conduct than the average Reform temple. Still, Matthew held some highly unorthodox beliefs. Chief among them was the doctrine that many white Jews are descended not from the ancient Israelites but from the Khazars, a tribe of Turkic nomads who, according to legend, converted to Judaism in the eighth or ninth century. Mainstream scholars say there is no historical evidence for such a claim, but it remains an article of faith for many Black Jews. (The claim is also a staple of anti-Israel rhetoric, a fact that Funnye, who like most Black Jews supports Israel, says makes him uneasy.)
Matthew didn’t express animosity toward white Jews. On the contrary, he saw and appreciated them as temporary placeholders, people who kept the faith of Israel going while the Black Jews were lost in bondage. He sought to make common cause with and be included in the wider Jewish community: twice he applied for membership to the mainstream New York Board of Rabbis, but he was turned down. The Orthodox rabbis were flabbergasted that any gentile, black or white, would have the chutzpah to declare himself to be a Jew, let alone a rabbi. Some of the more liberal rabbis were intrigued by the Hebrew Israelites but were not willing to fully embrace them as fellow Jews.

For Matthew and his followers, the disappointment was acute. “Rabbi Matthew concluded that black Jews would never be fully accepted by white Jews, and certainly not if they insisted on maintaining a black identity and independent congregations,” Sholomo Ben Levy, the rabbi of the Black Jewish Beth Elohim Hebrew Congregation in Queens, wrote in an article published by the Hebrew Israelites. “Since his death in 1973, there has been virtually no dialog [sic] between white and black Jews in America.”

It has become the mission of Capers Funnye to start that dialogue. “I believe in building bridges,” he told me as we sat in his office at the Beth Shalom synagogue in Chicago, a week and a half after his Martin Luther King Day speech in New York. “That’s why speaking at the synagogue was so important to me.”

“Has Mary forgiven you?” I asked.

Funnye nodded. “We drove down to D.C. and made one of the balls the next day,” he said. “And she got to snap a picture of Denzel Washington, so everything is more or less cool.”

At the King Day celebration in New York, the musician Joshua Nelson proved a hard act to follow; Funnye came across as stiff and cautious, expressing measured thoughts about Jewish solidarity, the brotherhood of man and the need for peace in the Holy Land. But here in his study, surrounded by books and family pictures, he seemed far more at ease. The Sabbath was only an hour away, and people kept busting into the room — kids who wanted to show off their grades; an assistant rabbi who wanted a word about the youth group; ladies of the Nashe Or (“Women of Light”) Sisterhood who wanted to know what time exactly the communal meal should be served.

Funnye handled it all in good spirits. He is not only the chief rabbi of the congregation, which, in various permutations, has been around 90 years; he is also its C.E.O., spiritual leader, head social director, senior teacher and unofficial cantor. Beth Shalom, which he joined as an assistant rabbi in 1985, has about 200 members, making it the largest of the six American synagogues affiliated with the International Israelite Board of Rabbis (the organization that serves the Hebrew Israelites), and Funnye is the Israelites’ only full-time rabbi. A majority of his congregation are converts to Judaism, although a large number are second- or third-generation Black Jews. (People often confuse Funnye’s congregation with that of Ben Ammi Carter, a fellow black Chicagoan, who established a community of followers in Israel in 1969. Funnye, who says there is no similarity between their theologies, is at pains to differentiate the two.)

Early in his rabbinical career, Funnye says, he realized that his Jewish credentials were too limited and exotic for the kind of outreach efforts that he wanted to do. So he enrolled at the mainstream Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Judaic Studies. And in 1985 he underwent a second conversion, this one certified by a Conservative rabbinical court. Before he took this step, he consulted with his earlier mentor, Rabbi Levy; Funnye feared insulting other Black Jews. “I didn’t want anyone to interpret my conversion as meaning I thought they weren’t Jewish enough,” he told me. But he received Levy’s blessing. “I explained that if I was going to do the kind of outreach I wanted, European Jews had to feel that I was their brother,” Funnye said. “But I’m still a Black Israelite. A halakhic conversion” — one in accordance with traditional Jewish law — “wasn’t going to take away any of my blackness.”
After his second conversion, Funnye taught Hebrew and Jewish subjects at Chicago-area congregations and worked for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, a group dedicated to fighting poverty, racism and anti-Semitism in the city. He sent his four children to Jewish day schools, quietly built his congregation and got to know the leaders of the white Jewish community. In 1997, he did what his mentors had all failed to do (and no Hebrew Israelite rabbi has since done): he became a member of the local Board of Rabbis. Rabbi Michael Balinsky, the executive vice president of the Chicago Board, says Funnye makes a conscientious effort “to play an active role in the mainstream Jewish community without losing his Black Hebrew tradition. He’s taken a leadership role for the Jewish community on civil rights issues and outreach to Hispanics and Muslims.”
In January, Beth Shalom organized a community celebration with members of the Inner-City Muslim Action Network, a social-justice organization in Chicago headed by a Palestinian-American activist named Rami Nashashibi. Funnye has also worked to improve Chicago’s historically strained relations between its black and Jewish communities. In conversations with white Jews, he has defended the Rev. Jesse Jackson, whom he admires, and he encourages dialogue with Louis Farrakhan, the head of the Nation of Islam, whom he counts as a friend.

“I don’t agree with everything the man says or thinks,” Funnye said of Farrakhan. “I’m a Jew, after all. But you need to talk. Right now I’m trying to put together a group of Chicago rabbis for a meeting with Minister Farrakhan.”

“How’s it going?” I asked.

“Two so far,” he said. “But I’m still working on it.”

Before sundown that night, Funnye joined about 60 congregants in the social hall for Friday-night blessings and a fried-fish-and-spaghetti dinner. In 2004, Beth Shalom bought its current building, on South Kedzie Avenue, on Chicago’s South Side, from a rapidly declining congregation of Lithuanian Jews. It has a tan brick exterior and a layout common to American synagogues circa 1955; it is a virtual twin of the temple in Michigan that I attended growing up.

The money for the building came mostly from tithes and contributions, and raising it was a stretch. “The members here are working people, teachers, city workers, mostly middle class,” Funnye said. “We don’t have any billionaire philanthropists, like the Bronfmans or the Crowns. The only rich black Jew I ever heard about was Sammy Davis Jr., and he’s dead. Besides, he was Reform.”

After the dinner, Funnye chanted the grace and then reassembled his flock in a large classroom for evening prayers and a Torah lesson. The week’s portion happened to be the story of the Exodus, and Funnye used it to illustrate the virtue of interdependence. “Think about it,” he said. “God told Moses to talk to Pharaoh, but Moses stuttered, right? I mean he stuh-stuh-stuh-stuttered. That’s what they called it back then. Nowadays he’d get called a rapper.” This got a laugh. A woman sitting nearby said, “Teach the Torah, rabbi.”

Funnye went on: “Moses stuttered so bad until he had to bring in his brother Aaron, who was a Cohen, a priest, to talk for him. And you know no priest is going to stutter, right?”

This got another laugh, and Funnye closed in on his moral — the importance of people from different backgrounds sharing the benefits of their respective upbringings. “I mean, hey, you grew up in the suburbs, maybe you can help me with something,” he said. “Or if you came up on 59th Street — some of y’all know what I’m talking about — so I know some things that you just don’t know. We can help each other.”

The congregation applauded and called out in agreement. This wasn’t the button-down Funnye who spoke at Stephen Wise in New York; here he was a signifying South Side Chicago rabbi.

A few years ago, before Beth Shalom bought its new synagogue, its members would meet in a small building on a blighted street in Chicago. A Latino gang worked one corner of the block, and a black gang worked the other. “Soon as we got there, somebody marked up the building with graffiti,” Funnye told me. “I went to both gangs and told them: ‘This is a synagogue, with elders and children. I don’t care what business you do during the week, but from Friday sundown until Saturday sundown you need to be respectful.’ I let them know that I am a man of peace but I’m not a pacifist and I had men in the congregation, so if we had a problem we’d deal with it ourselves, not call in the police until later.”

I was surprised to hear that the speech worked. “And the gangs fell into line, just like that?”

Funnye chuckled. “Well, I also had a word with some brothers I met doing prison counseling, and they may have intervened. I put out word when we moved here too. I don’t get in people’s business, but I won’t allow anyone to disrespect our synagogue.”

Because of Funnye’s connection to the Obamas, his community work has occasionally been a source of political interest. Between 1997 and 2002, Funnye served as the executive director of Blue Gargoyle, a nonprofit social-services agency that offers, among other things, adult-literacy and alternative-education programs. Blue Gargoyle was in Barack Obama’s district when he was an Illinois state senator, and during Funnye’s tenure, Obama earmarked a total of $75,000 for the organization. The issue of the earmarks and the family connection was raised by some of Obama’s opponents during the 2008 presidential campaign, but it didn’t gain traction; evidently the disbursements were aboveboard.

Funnye also worked with Michelle Obama in her capacity as executive director for community affairs for the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she focused on health issues affecting young people. Funnye told me that the only money Blue Gargoyle received from the university was a $5,000 grant for a tutoring program, and that the money did not come through Michelle Obama’s office at the hospital.

At the start of the 2008 presidential primary season, Funnye contributed a few hundred dollars to the Obama campaign but didn’t publicly endorse Obama, and he avoided mentioning the family connection. “I was afraid it might do him harm in the Orthodox community,” he told me. “I believe they were the ones putting out stories about Barack being a secret Muslim and so on. They could have made me out to be a friend of Farrakhan’s or a cult leader or who knows what.”

Obama apparently wasn’t worried by the association. During the Democratic primaries, as he came under repeated attack for being insufficiently pro-Israel, Obama reached out to Funnye, by way of Mary’s brother Frank White, the Obama fund-raiser. White told me that Obama encouraged him to “tell Capers to get the word out that I’ve got a rabbi in my family.” Funnye acknowledges getting the message. Before long, The Forward, the Jewish weekly, ran an article on Obama’s rabbi, and the news spread like low-fat cream cheese from Boca Raton to Brooklyn.

Funnye’s association with Obama probably didn’t reassure fervent Zionists — the rabbi is considerably to the left of Obama on Middle East policy — but it didn’t seem to hurt either. The connection to Obama certainly didn’t hurt Funnye. “I got no blowback from the Orthodox at all,” he said. “In fact, I started getting phone calls from a couple Hasidic rabbis in Israel who want to get together.”

There is no black Jewish neighborhood in Chicago. When they congregate on the Sabbath, the Hebrew Israelites come from all areas of the city, and they tend to spend the entire day in shul. The lyrics to the songs they sing are the same as the ones heard in any traditional synagogue, but the music is different. Hebrew prayers are sung in unison in something resembling call and response. A gospel-like band accompanies the choir’s weekly performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” During the Torah procession the congregation sings, “We’re marching to Zion, beautiful, beautiful Zion.”

On one of the days I was there, in early February, I was the only white Jew in the shul, and an old guy in front of me kept turning around and showing me the right page. There’s a nudnik like him in every shul I’ve ever been to.

I forgave him, though, during the Torah service, when a young man faltered over the blessings and looked mortified. “Not your fault, young man,” the nudnik said. “The fire of the Torah burns so hot to where sometimes it just confuses your mind.”

At the end of services, I met a young woman named Tamar, who said her children are the only black Jews enrolled at the Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School. “Things have been a little tricky for them at school since Obama won,” she told me.

“Why?” I asked. “Aren’t most of the parents at the Day School Democrats?”

“Yes. They voted for Obama, and their kids are glad he won. But they don’t love Obama the way my children do. They aren’t thrilled in the same way.”


“My kids are wondering, If their classmates and teachers figure out how personal this is for them, will they be considered more black and less Jewish?”

When I told Funnye the story he chuckled but said he wasn’t surprised. Being a black Jew in America can be a trying experience, even when white Jews are well intentioned. One morning I went with Funnye to a suburban Conservative congregation, where he was to deliver another Martin Luther King speech. We sat at the head table. I ate bagels and lox while Funnye chatted with a convert to Judaism. At the end of the meal the host rabbi stood and began chanting the blessing after food.

When he saw that Funnye wasn’t singing along, the rabbi pointed to the appropriate words. He didn’t realize that Funnye wasn’t praying because he was still eating. Another nudnik.

On Inauguration Day, Capers and Mary Funnye drove down from New York and made it to Washington in time for a quick shower. Then they boarded a bus for Obama-family relatives that drove them from venue to venue throughout the day. Over lunch at the Old Executive Office building, Funnye recounted, he bonded with Obama’s Kenyan grandmother and aunt and exchanged business cards with the president’s Kenyan half-brother. “I get to Africa from time to time,” Funnye said.

That was an understatement. Funnye heads the Pan-African Jewish Alliance, a group established to help Africans join and feel more included in the mainstream Jewish community. For its founders — Gary Tobin, the head of the Institute for Jewish and Community Research in San Francisco, and his wife, Diane — the motivation is in part demographic. Discovering or creating millions of Jewish Africans (as well as opening the community in the United States to African converts and to African-Americans with Jewish roots) would, the Tobins say, greatly strengthen what they see as a stagnant population.

Funnye’s motive is more spiritual. As a Hebrew Israelite rabbi he maintains that many Africans were originally Jewish. Some, like the Lemba of South Africa, claim direct descent from the Jews of the Bible. There is considerable resistance to this notion, but many leading scholars take it seriously. “I have no problem believing that the Lemba of South Africa are descended from Jews,” says Jonathan Schorsch, an assistant professor of Jewish studies at Columbia University. “Jews are ethnically and biologically mixed. It just makes sense that this mixing took place in Africa as well as other places.”

Funnye’s closest connection is to the Ibos, a tribe in Nigeria, some of whose members describe themselves as Jews. Beth Shalom has a sister synagogue there, and Funnye travels back and forth. For all practical purposes, he is the chief rabbi of Nigeria, and he has plans to reunite the Ibos eventually with the worldwide Jewish people through formal conversion.

Before he gets to Africa, though, Funnye has other commitments. A French organization recently flew him to Paris for a Martin Luther King event. He now finds himself flooded with invitations to speak at big Jewish congregations in California, Florida and Long Island. Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, the executive vice president of the New York Board of Rabbis, is planning a meeting for Funnye with his colleagues. I asked Potasnik if the organization would be willing to reconsider membership for the Hebrew Israelite rabbis. “We’d entertain an application,” he said. “I’d love to see the test case.”

Rabbi Eric Yoffie, the head of the Reform Movement, is, like Potasnik, ready to consider new possibilities. “The fact that men and women sit separately in the Israelite congregations might be a problem for us on gender-equality grounds,” he told me. “But race would certainly be no problem for us.”

A few years ago, Funnye considered applying for membership to the Union for Reform Judaism. He shelved the idea when his congregants objected on the grounds that the white congregation was not observant enough. “Some of their rabbis perform intermarriages,” Funnye explains, “so some of our people were uncomfortable. But sometimes I think it would be good to be part of a larger movement. Maybe we’ll revisit the subject.”

Funnye hasn’t built all his bridges yet, let alone crossed them, but the progress he has seen — both as a black Jew and as a black American — has mellowed him. “You know, as a young man I was angry about the way we were laughed at and ignored,” he said. “I sometimes went down to the kosher meat market here in Chicago, put my face right up in the face of one of the Orthodox rabbis and yelled, ‘I ain’t never seen no white Jews before!’ I was so hurt I became obtuse and bitter. But I don’t feel that way anymore.” He paused. “There’s no need to shout. People are ready for a dialogue, to talk and to listen.”

In order to faciliate the interests of scholastic aptitude for laypersons and academics alike I
shall set out what I believe to be The Philosophical Doctrine Of The Base in the discussion between You and I seek to help the understanding of all concerned.

I would like to start by addressing your present responses and also some of the ones from
your earlier posts and highlight some issues that are of important consideration even with
the present historical records and cast some light on the questions (s) posed by scholars
as to Who Were The Canaanite/Israelite/Hyksos People instead of just saying that it is not
known who they were. This, among some other things.
To get to the heart of your arguments again. In your first response you state again that
“there is no historical archaeological evidence of an “Israel” that matches up with the mythical writings found in religious text such as the Bible. There is evidence of a people
that the Kemetic peoples called “ysri ri”….though the peoples of Israel don’t have as many
interactions with any other people as they do with the Kemetic peoples.” [Note: To High-
light Something, that is precisely my point in my response And I might also add Sumer/
Chaldea as peoples that Ancient Canaan/Israel interacted with. End Note]……You state
“There is absolutely no historical connection that can be shown between any land or
people known as “Israel” and any people known as “Hebrew” or “Habiru”. [Note: The words
Habiru/Apiru is still in serious contention among scholars and at present simply means a
homeless person, a wanderer, a brigand, a street dweller or a criminal of some sort without

Stele proves conclusively that “Israel” were native indigenous Canaanites and that Israel/
Canaan as shown in the Stele is actually one single group of people representing their
Country. You disagree that we can tell who they actually were or are, to state: ……. we
cannot tell that they are an ethnic group from that one line….we cannot tell if they are
Canaanites from that one line or a people who invaded and assimulated Canaanite culture.

I have subsumed all of your responses and assertions into one so that I may answer them all in toto.
My entire position on this matter is that The Black Peoples of Canaan/Israel/Phoenicia were all One and the Same
and That it is These Black Peoples who were and are none other than The Mysterious Hyksos that
have been called Semitics and Asiatics by Indocentric, Eurocentric and some Afrocentric authors
and scholars.!!!
The first issue that I must address is the word Semitic. Understanding this word and its usages is one
of the KEYS to understanding our subject matter. The Akkaddian Inscriptions calls the Name of
Shem/Sem as Semu or Shu-Mu. it is the name of a Person, a Peoples and a Country, Sumer.
We Have To Be Very Careful When We Use The Word “Semitic” because it originally
applied to Black peoples in Mesopotamia, Sumeria and The Indus-Valley of Asia. See The

post that no historical person named “Shem” ever lived because of the lack of a historical
inscription to that effect outside of the Bible. As to Sumer and Shem, once again, from the
Mesopotamian view we look South. It is certain now that the peoples of Mesopotamia called
themselves Sumerian because they descended from and venerated the Orisha/Irumole/Imole
Person called SHU by the Egyptians. The very word means to derive from, to proceed from,
without regards to politics or religion but RACE. It also means an Act, An Event, A Social
Movement, such as the peopling of The Mesopotamia from Nile Valley and Indus-Valley
populations. Going further as to originality we are told by Prof. Amelineau and Prof. Cheikh
Anta Diop that the Orisha/Irunmole Ausar/Osiris was a True, Living Person as well as the
other Orisha/Imoles and Prof. Diop notes that the “God’s” head and other sacred parts were

Among these Nile Valley groups were the Akan/Kanaan peoples whose original home appears
to be Kenya as this Country still bears their ethnic name to this day. The origination of these peoples
must then have been Southern and Western, Nubian and Dravidian, which is to say South Africa
before many African/Asiatic Groups of Black Peoples assumed their own Ethnic/Tribal
Identities, Lands and Regions.
I submit that the first group of Nile Valley and Indus Valley peoples who settled the Mesopotamian
region ( Iraq, Canaan, Arabia ) were venerators of the Irumole, Imole, Neter SHU and so
named the land, its peoples, language and culture after their Patron Orisha. Even to this day
Black Hebrews refer to Black Jews as Shema Israel. The language of Canaan is called Semitic
( meaning Sumerian, Akkaddic, Ugaritic, Hebrew and ARAMAIC ). It is an Afro-Asiatic
language and is NOT Indo-Oriental or Nordic European. The language system of Black Asia
( The Dravidian Indus-Valley ) is conclusively shown to be Dravidian/Tamil/Kali/Dalit. The
Indo-Orientals/Indo-Aryans have no language system but that adopted from the Tamil system
is Vedic, Sanscrit and Hindu. The Dravidian is the Original Indigenous Asiatic Black Man and
Woman ( The South-East Asian Indian and Australian Aboriginal Type! ).
The original language system of Caucasians is the Nordic, Scandinavian, Teutonic, Celtic,
Germanic, Caucus and a corrupted bastardization of these tongues called Slavic! We also
note that Semitic referred to the Blacks of Asia First and Their Language and after that to
Japhetic Indo-Oriental and Caucasian peoples who adopted and spoke the language afterwards
and that is the SOLE origin of the word, land and peoples called Shumitic/Semitic!!!

With this one single fact we can clearly begin to explain the times of Canaan, its provincial
state periods under Egypt and Sumer, its Nationalistic periods of Independence and Regional
Rule as Canaan, Israel, and Phoenicia, its rise and fall and the reasons therefor. Also with this
one single fact we can begin to set straight the Confusion of the Torah/Tanakh Records of
The Sumerian Hebrews and The Egyptian Yewes by the Western European and American
State/Church Academic Establishments!

The Anthropological And Ethnological Evidence

For purposes of clarifications throughout this treatise ( and for rebuttals, if any ) I will proceed
first to IDENTIFY the peoples now known to the World’s State and Religious Academia as the

we all know that there was only ONE Homogenous race of peoples. A critical fact long over-

Both appear to have originated in Southern Africa. The Nubian is The Biblical

INTERMIXTURES.!!! And now for The Paleontology of Ancient Israel.!!!

The Anthropological and Ethnic evidence will best be considered by giving the four (4) Ethnic-Tribal
Groups and their societies which form the basis, origin, developement and actual peoples called the

as a translation of hamitic and shemitic tongues into Caucasian alphabet that uses the letter “J” such
as the English language. The word Iu, Iue, Yewe and EWE evolved into the word Jew as a matter
of the translation of languages and That Alone is the Whole Matter of the modern english word
Jew. It STILL MEANS the Yewe/Ewe peoples that the word describes and comes from as these
peoples were and are the Original Jews to start with.!!! I also submit that the very word HEBREW
is from the union of these peoples dialectical tongue from their biological intermixture as a socio-
ethnic group. The word Ibo or Igbo as Eber and the word Iu, Yewe or Ewe being conjoined to
form the Ethnic word : Hebrew as IBRI-EWE or IVRI-YEWE. I believe this very, very, very strongly.
The Ewe/Yewe peoples as a whole describes their Origins as being from the lands of EGYPT and
SAUDI ARABIA. I also Highly Note that Joseph I ( Yuyasof I of On ) was born in PADAN-ARAM
EWE.!!! He married ASENATH, the daughter of Potipherah, High Priest of the fabled City of On,
later celebrated as the Greek Heliopolis. ON is the Fabled Egyptian City of The Sun. The importance
of this will be seen later as we go on. He was buried in SHECHEM. I believe the word Shechem has

Because of its importance to our discussion here, the Land and People of Canaan will be dealt with at
length. My point is that it is the Country that all four tribes mentioned came into one as a Socio-Ethnic
Group and Nationality. I begin this by identifying the Geographical Area of Ancient Canaaan from their
historical records and those of Egypt and Sumeria. To state: Modern Day Israel, Jordan, Lebanon,
Syria and Saudi Arabia. This region was called the Retennu, Sirion and later on the Levant by Egypt and

said, until we see the societies of Nubia, Egypt, Libya, Canaan, Sumeria, and India as RELATED
Nations and NOT Isolated Societies we will continue to be as CONFUSED abour OUR Origins and
Ancestors as Caucasian and Indo-Oriental scholars are about THEIRS and OURS. This, My Brother is

Bro. Yao, in one of my prior treatises in this thesis I told you that the conflict between Canaan, Egypt
and Sumer was not just Political, Religious and Ethnic but also Scientific! I will state a list of Canaan’s
accomplishments and then I will proceed to show just who the Canaanites/Hyksos/Israelites truly were.
The Archaeological record from about 3000 B.C. shows that :
1. The Canaanites were the first mercantile nation in the world, the very first to use coins and paper money
(papyrus) as currency !!!
2. Their Political units were the very first Federated City-States in the world ( Ugarit, Aradus, Tripoli,
Ursalima (Jurusalem), Batrun, Byblos, Beirut, Sidon, Tyre, Raphia ( the first one ) and others ).
3. They recorded much (not all) of their history and system on papyrus (paper) which they also used in
the schools and business system.
4. Among the first to have a Merchant Marines and a Regional Navy with sophisticated warships.
5. Introduced the War Chariot into Egypt, Sumeria, Libya and surrounding Countries. The Canaanite
Chariots were made of Iron and equipped with Shields.
6. The Mortuary Science was sophisticated in both cremation, mummification and burial techniques.
7.Among the first to found a Agricultural based food, textile, chemical, clothing, industrial and medical
system from the land.
8. The first in the Art of Air Travel by way of the Gas Air Ballon which later gave way to our modern
Airships called Derrigables.
9. The first peoples to fuse Egyptian Hieroglyphics and Sumerian Cuneiform into one language to create
a Phonetic Alphabet (Aleph-Beth) and Mathematical system called ARAMAIC on which all other Modern languages have been based upon since then. This language system appears to be much, much
older than 5000 years.!!!

The name Amurru, Amorites, Amar, Aamu and Amu is synonomous with Canaanite. According to
biblical archaeology Genesis 10:16 indicates that the “Amorites were descended from Canaan but they
must have intermarried with Semitics at a very early age because they appear as a SEMITIC people in Near
Eastern references to them. Their origin is something of a mystery, but they probably arose not too far
from the Syro-Palestine region, perhaps in the northern euphrates area. We know that Amorite mercen-
aries were used in overthrowing the Akkaddian empire of Sargon I, about 2200 B.C. Thereafter they
invaded Mesopotamia and established themselves there; the Hammurabi Dynasty (1830-1550) was
Amoritic. From certain artistic representations we may conclude that they were entering Egypt as traders
by 1900 b.c. The Amorites occupied an area in Trans-jordan as well as in Canaan. Numbers 21:21
speaks of Sihon, King of the Amorites, and Joshua 10:5 lists the towns of the Amorite league: Jerusalem,
Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon. Probably they occupied the hill country while the Canaanites lived
in the lowlands of Palestine. At one time the Amorites controlled an extensive area in Mesopotamia, Syria

Let us view some other matters that Dr. Vos comments on. On Abraham’s Identity, Dr. Vos states that
recently the idea has been advanced that Abraham was not merely a powerful Patriarch but a Merchant
Prince. In this Dr. Vos cites Cyrus Gordon who concludes ” the patriarchal narratives, far from reflecting
Bedouin life, are highly international in their milieu, in a setting where a world order enabled men to travel far and wide for business enterprise…. Abraham comes from beyond the Euphrates, plies his trade in Canaan, visits Egypt, deals with Hittites, makes treaties with Philistines, forms military alliances with Amorites, fights kinglets from as far off as Elam, marries the Egyptian Hagar, etc” and simply admits that
this shows the Patriarch Abraham to be much more than the Bedouin nomad that scholars a generation
ago thought him to be. pgs. 51-54. On the Garden of Eden, The Flood, and their many similarities Dr. Vos states: ” That there was such a place of perfection may be reflected in the Sumerian account of the
land of Dilmun. He cites both Pritchard, who believes Dilmun was the Island of Bahrein in the Persian
Gulf, and Dr. Samuel Noah Kramer who locates Dilmun in the Indus-Valley, p.19, as well as the view
that Sumeria’s Mesopotamia is the original home of the Hebrews”, p.43.
On Genesis 14 Dr. Vos writes : ” the assertion made formerly that travel was not so extensive in the
patriarchal period and that Mesopotamian ( Sumerian ) Kings did not control the area must now be
discarded. The expeditions of Kings of Elam and Babylonia appear in different light when we learn, for
instance, that as early as 2300 b.c. Sargon of Akkad ( near Babylon ) made raids on the Amorites of
Syria and Palestine. Hammurabi himself claimed that his empire extended to the Mediterranean. Of
particular significance for the present study is the fact that prior to Hammurabis’s rule in Babylon, Kudur-
Mabug, an Elamite King of Larsa ( north of Ur ), claimed to be “prince of the land of Amurru” ( Palestine
and Syria ). Furthermore, a wagon contract found at Mari in the Middle Euphrates region and dating to
the patriarchal period gives as one of its conditions of rental that the wagon shall not be driven to the
Mediterranean coastlands, hundreds of miles away. Dr. Vos also comments on the discovery by Albright
of a line of buried cities along the legendary Highway of Kings. These cities dated to the Early Bronze
(3000-2000 B.C.) and Middle Bronze (2000-1500 b.c.) Ages. Also identified was the town of eastern
Gilead, Ham, Ashteroth Karnaim in southern Syria, Kadesh-He ( along with many others ) with Ain el
Qudeirat in the Sinai Peninsula. pgs. 66-73.
On Joseph ( Zaphnath-Paaneah; Yuyasof I of On ) as Prime Minister or Pharoah Vizier of Egypt, Dr. Vos observes : ” First, it is clear that the Egyptians did not consider the Hebrews to be part of the Hyksos
movement. When the Egyptians drove out the foreign overlords in the 16th century b.c., the expulsion did
not involve the Hebrews”. Again : ” Critics used to doubt the possibility of a Palestinian slave’s rising to
such high position in Egypt as scripture says Joseph did but archaeological investigation has provided
several interesting parallels to this occurrence. A Canaanite, Meri-Ra, became armor-bearer to Pharoah;
another Canaanite, Ben-Mat-Ana, was appointed to the high position of interpreter; and a Semitic,
Yankhamu ( Jauhamu ), became deputy to Amonhotep III, with charge over the granaries of the delta,…
In commenting on the position of Jauhamu, who some believe officiated in the region of Goshen, Price
observes ” to him the Egyptian subjects in Canaan-Syria appealed in case of necessity, as he was the
high official of the Egyptian Government for that foreign state. He had all power to respond to the appeals
for grain in exchange for silver, wood, or even the sons and daughters of the buyers. The position of
Joseph as Commissioner of graneries in Goshen ( Gen.47:13 ff ) and his authority to retain the sons of
Jacob ( Yaa’kov ) as hostages remind one of the position of Jauhamu”. pgs. 101-108. Genesis and

Bro. Yao. I have reprinted some of the conclusions in this book to Illustrate again the Truth and the
Modern Confusion on the subject here. Dr. Vos, a Caucasian scholar, was at least truthful to what the
evidence showed and did not show and was sensitive in his comments on race and religion in the book.
He also admitted the confusion of scholars on the Identity of The Canaanites, Hyksos, Semitics and
Habiru!!! Of course Anthropology, Archaeological research and Afrocentric Academia has shown and
proved much since then but to my knowledge has not said who the groups mentioned truly were in a
definitive sense.
The Canaanites are SIMPLY the Akan Peoples of Egypt’s Nile Valley and Sumeria’s Mesopotamia as
the many Tribal/Sub-Tribal groups throughout the region who descended from them along with the Igbo
Colchin and Ewe as a common ethnic group and CALLED THEMSELVES and their land KINAHHU.
The Hyksos and Semitics ( Amu, Aamu, Asiatics ) are SIMPLY The Black Dravidian Peoples of Sumeria, India and Canaan among them The Ibo ( Igbo), Ewe, Akan and Colchin.!!!


Because the meaning of the word Habiru is “still” in contention among Scholars I will present my own
view of the Ethnicity and Race of the peoples called Hapiru. This will digress from our earlier discussions
on the Hapiru. By all accounts it is certain now that the term hapiru/apiru referred to peoples who were
homeless, outcasts and downtrodden at that time. In other words street peoples. The same goes for
sag’gaz, a robber without regards to race.!!! The promblem is solved in Sumeria and Egypt when we look
at where this underclass dwelt at. They erected large homeless camps near the edges of forests, deserts,
lakes, streams and along the banks of The Rivers. It is certain now that these peoples worshipped the Life
Giving Spirit of The Land, the River God HAPI. They, the lower class of Hyksos, also dwelt at the Deltas and by the Red Sea, being peasants, servants, prisoners and street peoples. This River, The Nile
(Hapi) and its deltas also being the home of Apophys-Set-Typhon, the Crocodile Gods, and Ipi. In
Sumeria the same is Enbil-Ulu. These peoples in the areas were no Indo-Orientals or Caucasian foreigners
but the Egyptians and Sumerians OWN UNDERCLASS being mainly Canaanites with poor Egyptians,
Libyans, Sumerians and Nubians included. It is also a known fact and no secret that Egyptian/Sumerian
peoples and dynasties had many of these peoples as house servants and field slaves. For all of the talk
about “crossing over the Rivers and Red Sea” these are the Hapiru/Habiru so-called from their veneration
or worshipping at that time of the Spirit of The Nile, a favorite of the oppressed and downtrodden, The
River God HAPI.


These are the peoples, the descendants of ABRAHAM, who produced Isaac ( Yitzhak ), Jacob
( Yaa’Kov ), the 15th to 16th dynasties of Ancient Egypt, the Nation-State of Kana Yisra’el, and its
connections to the 18th dynasty of Ancient Egypt. I also note the fact that their native presence was
attested to in Ancient Egypt as early as the 13th Dynasty.!!! In order to explain the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt it is helpful if we look at the 15th to 16th dynasties and the formation of Kana Yisra’el
as a socio-ethnic and political group. The names of the Hyksos Kings are unquestionably Canaanitish.
As the Akan, Igbo, Yewe and Colchin groups began to coalease in the region of Canaan, they all
originating from a common background and bond, along with the minor substrata of other various small
tribal groups ( the mixed multitude of the Torah and Biblical records ) we see the people of Canaan as
Israel finally take shape as a Nation. One of the reasons for this is that the 15th to 16th Dynasties were
THESE CANAANITES themselves. It is important to note that the timeline for Canaan/Egypt’s most
important events concerning Israel is from 1650 to 1150 b.c.e. It is especially important to anaylyze the
time period for the 15-16th dynasties for this is when the Patriarch Jacob ( Yaa’Kov, the Supplanter )
appears. Jacob is called Yaa’kov-Aru, Yaa’kov-Her and Yaa’kov-Baal. The founder of the 15th Dynasty
was Salitis ( also called Shalik, Saites and May-Ebre Sheshi, literally translated as MAH-IBRI-SHE-ISHI.!!!), and the last King of this dynasty was Auserre Apophis I ( Ausar-Re Apophys I ). In other
words these Canaanites were the Self-Styled Pharoahs of the Delta, Canaanite and Arabian Peninsular
regions. It is said that Yaa’kov-Her had 12 sons by the Matriarchs Rachel, Leah and the Matriarch
Mistresses Bilhah and Zilpah. It it also a fact that Canaan had 12 Tribes. The CONFUSION results from
modern scholars giving the family names of Each Son as the Tribal names itself of each group. And these
were the 12 Sons of Yaa’kov that settled in each of the lands and territories of the 12 Canaanite tribes.
The 12 Sons and their Wives were SIMPLY the heads of these 12 Canaanite families, clans, groups and
Tribes of peoples in Canaan. As time went on from the earliest periods, their names and the Canaanite
tribal names became synonomous and identical. That is what happened there. That is all.
On Joseph ( Zaphnath-Paaneah; Yuyasof I of On ) again, I believe that Joseph was a Pharoah Vizier
under his Father Yaa’kov-Baal of the 16th Dynasty. When comparing the historical records from the
ancient texts to modern theoretical interpretaions it is interesting to note the similarities and differences as
told by academia of all schools. They make it so confusing, perplexing and non-common sensical at times.
In my opinion it would seem to me that Joseph was not just “sold” into slavery but was bartered, ransomed, captured and/or taken as a political prisoner-of-war (after all, they were at war with the
southern dynasties and others in that day and time) and his release was effected by BOTH Official
Diplomatic and Spiritual means. I also note that in the Book Joseph And Asenath, Ase-Nath, his wife to
be, already a Queen Princess at this time looked MORE LIKE A DAUGHTER OF THE HEBREW

Temple Beth Shalom was built more than six decades ago, when the South Side of Chicago was full of Eastern European Jews. The synagogue is still here, but the congregation has changed. Today, the members are mostly African-American, and they call themselves Hebrew Israelites.

In some ways, the congregation borrows from traditions of black Christian worship. Congregants stand at their pews, clapping and singing, and many wear dashikis and tailored black robes. Men wear large skullcaps of traditional African design, with Jewish iconography woven into the patterns.

Tammy McCullough has attended the synagogue since she was a child, and says she identifies with the ancient Israelites because they were dark-skinned and they were slaves. “My grandmother always told me we were the people who came out of Egypt,” McCullough says.

“We don’t forget we’re descendants from slaves — we went through a lot to get here as a people. We bring that spirit with us in the music, in the teaching, in the speaking,” she says. “We are passionate people, because at one point that’s all we had, our passion and our music. That’s all we had.”

The Hebrew Israelite movement started in the early 1900s, around the same time as The Nation of Islam. Both religious movements appealed to African-Americans who were seeking a new identity beyond the black Christian church.

At a recent Saturday, Rabbi Capers Funnye led the congregation through a six-hour service that included prayers in Hebrew. He also gave a sermon about the environment, using Biblical interpretation.

Rabbi Funnye was born a Christian and grew up in the South during the Jim Crow era. In his mind, he couldn’t separate Christianity from the politics of segregation. He went through a spiritual crisis — he looked at Islam for a while, then explored Judaism. One day, he asked a white rabbi about the role of Africans in the Old Testament. “He said… many of the first Jews were in fact people of African descent — and I said a ‘Ha! That’s starting to make some sense — now we can talk more.”

There are different sub-groups within Judaism, from Hasidic to Sephardic. Rabbi Funnye studied all of them, and picked the practices that made sense to him. He became a Jew in 1971 and eventually was ordained as a rabbi — because, he says, it fit his personality and his inquisitive mind.

“Judaism allows a person to be as intellectual as they can possibly be, and still hold on to all the faith in the world,” Rabbi Funnye says. “You do not have to give up your faith to be a good Jew. You do not have to give up your intellect to be a good Jew. They coexist within the Jew. Other faiths don’t necessarily allow that.

“So why Judaism? You can question God.”

In some ways, Rabbi Funnye’s spiritual development, and the black synagogue, mirrors the history of activism in the black community from the Civil Rights movement to identity politics. Judaism, he says, provides a set of rules that governs daily life. The rituals remind people that God is watching, and Jewish law help them wrestle with moral choices, both big and small. “That’s the wresting inside of every human being that has to go on,” Rabbi Funnye says. “And Judaism allows those dichotomies and those tensions to exist in us. And it’s OK. It’s OK.”

His positive message seems to resonate — membership has soared. And he’s bringing the congregation closer to their roots in Africa: Temple Beth Shalom is working with several congregations in Uganda. Rabbi Funnye says that unlike Ethiopian Jews, the congregations in Uganda have had very little contact with the outside Jewish world until now.

“And one group of leaders said to me in my last visit in September: ‘Rabbi, please, if we join and you become our spiritual leader, please tell me that we can still drum and dance.’ I said I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Back in Chicago, even white Jews are beginning to come through the door. But these are mostly Reform Jews, from the liberal wing of Judaism. The Orthodox refuse to recognize Hebrew Israelites. Some of the black Jews aren’t sure what to make of the white congregants. The Rabbi hopes to bridge the gap and let both sides know they should feel right at home with each other.

“The pronunciation may be a little different, but the words are the same,” he says.

I think that it is a little sad that from the radio story it seems, he could only see the truth in a religion because his race was not included in the story.
I am Indian and Indians are never mentioned in the Bible but I was able to see how God reaches out to me even though there is never a particular instance of God going to India.
It annoys me when they picture Jesus as a blonde haired blue eyed babe, but it would be just as strange if he were brown with curls.

I’m glad to see people sparring on the true name of the creator, his son and his true people. The son was a shortcut (Like in a MS Windows environment) to the actual application (.exe file, executable). While everyone keeps thinking the shortcut does performs the application, it’s the (.exe) that performs that function. All the while, the shortcut keeps telling you “To get to the father, you must click on me.”

JACK BEAN what do you mean there are no black Jews? Did you forget about the Jewish people from Ethiopia? The ones forced into slavery and forbidden to follow the teachings of the Torah! Some may be the lost Israelite tribe of Dan; they may be descendants of Menelik I, son of King Solomon and Queen Sheba, they may be descendants of Ethiopian Christians and pagans who converted to Judaism centuries ago, and they may be descendants of Jews who fled Israel for Egypt after the destruction of the First Temple in 586 BCE and eventually settled in Ethiopia; BUT they are Black Jews! There are many Black Jews that are not “Hebrews”.
There are also many followers of the old testament from various backgrounds for various reasons, faith, tradition, finding what works for them.

“JESUS” was not a “JEW”
He was a Hebrew. HE followed the laws of the Torah. Including pasach(passover,) which he did the last time in what christians commonly refer to as the last supper.
People, please do some research on the words you use. The letter “J” is not a Hebrew letter. THe creater has a proper name and it is not “GOD”.

Before you all get on here and comment and instruct and make claims like you know everything, learn some basics and background about the religion you defend. I do not by any means claim to be an expert, and I am humble enough to know that I learn something new every day.

I reccomend two books. “Come out of her my people.” and “Fossilized customs.”

What is a black Jew? If he is a HEBREW, he is not a jew. The people of tha Tanak were not jews. The word jew did not even exist. THey were Hebrews. The Yahudim. Jews are of European descent. Blacks who practise Judaism are not the same as Hebrew Israelites. This article might paint a clear pricure of this particular congregation, but it by no means correctly depicts scriptural history or the Hebrew Israelite culture.

I am white man who was born into Judaism and Bar Mitzvahed. I turned away from organized religion in my mid teens after the rabbi I grew up with retired. The replacement rabbi had passion, and perhaps even charisma, but he did not project wisdom. I felt my synagogue had lost its direction. My wife and I are now expecting our first child and we want to find a new congregation so that we may provide our child with a religious education as well as a secular education. I wish that Temple Beth Shalom was here in Boston, as Rabbi Funnye sounds like the kind of inspirational religious leader that would draw me back to organized religion. Bravo on a wonderful piece about this leader and his congregation who seem to have truly discovered spirituality.

First and foremost, Isha Green qouted form Matthew…. the book of Matthew doesn’t not even exist in the Jewish faith. Matthew is from the new books and is NOT followed by Jews at all. Second, their are blacks Jews. It depends on where the people of Egypt settled after their fled from the Pharoh. Egypt being in Africa… draw it up…. My family fled to European countries while others settled in China, other African countried that were safe like Morocco…. As far as Rabbi Capers Funnye, I can’t speak for him, I can only assume that he found a faith that he could believe in and others did as well. There are truly African Jews that have settled around the country who have followed as they were raised and taught through their traditions. As any Jew will know, its all about tradtion and keep them alive.

Rabbi Funnye is so right, “Judaism allows a person to be as intellectual as they can possibly be, and still hold on to all the faith in the world.” Judaism allows one to think and learn endlessly, while in Christianity one’s reasoning is being resticted one is always walking in a tight robe – reason and faith in constant conflict. Here, the inquisitive mind is the key. If someone really inquires into Judaism, as Rabbi Funnye did long ago, one will see the light, the beauty of Judaism.

The ridiculousness in all this is that the person christians claim to follow Jesus or specifically Yahushuah was not christian at all. He was a torah practising Jew that came to include gentiles in the israelite covenant so that they too could become israelites. The pharasee’s or as they are called today orthodox rabbi’s are the same people that distorted the torah and added false traditions like the oral torah, midrash and mishnanh. It is saddening to see black people trying to adopt this side of religion instead of following the torah like the son of man yahushuah wanted us to. I respect Karaite jews and Natsarim jews because they push for a more purer textual religion instead of man made laws.

I guess I can sort of understand how they would want to be Jews because when you think about it Jesus was a Jew but by him bringing upon the Jews the Holy Ghost Spirit they themselves became Christians, which is what the Christians are all about…worshiping God and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost so that their name may be written in the Book of Life. Thank you all so very much for this article, as an African American man I am pleased to read such inspiring and hopeful news. Rabbi Capers Funnye is absolutely correct the words are the same. Christianity is a step shy of Judaism, but the priniples are basically the same. I’ve been searching spiritually for something like this, and I hope they expand down to Atlanta. I understand the concepts of why a Honorable-Spritual man would have to take on multiple wives. The ultimate goal is to bring back Yah’s people and restore His Nation. The most important piece to it all is to esteem the Most High and give honor to him.

I am a married woman who have most recently come into the knowledge and understanding of “Polygamy” and seeing it as being a necessity within our community, for our people. I have considered this option with my own husband, but I have found that through this test, I failed. I am still somewhat insecure and jealous over my husband. Mainly because of the fear that men tend to walk in their lusts and in their flesh instead of always taking the spiritual approach. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

However, I still believe that day must come when our men must rise up as the Lions that they are called to be and lead our people back to the Most High in RIGHTEOUSNESS. My insecurity is something that the Most High is cleansing me out of – Malachai 3:3.

I know speaking as a woman who truly wants to serve the Most High, I have failed by looking to my man who doesn’t have all the answers….so I fault him for his trials and errors….Wrong answer ladies…I am convicted by this. However, I know who he is trying to serve. I have faith that the Father will build us up to where we need to be. We are being refined.

Its not time for our men to be pimps simply cause they think they got it like that, but hopefully our men see that there is truly a spiritual purpose and sincere need for our people; LET IT BE DONE RIGHTEOUSLY. Another problem is that we are having to renew our minds and break away from these ‘GENTILE’ ways. We are literally out of our mindset…part of our curses, so it is a struggle learning who we are supposed to be. The Word of Yah will correct that. Its not totally clear on how polygamy should be handled. This day and age, men in America really would have a much bigger burden in trying to treat all of his wives equally, because of the curses set against them. They barely can care for one family let alone 2, 3 or even 4. The women today would have to be in a lot of prayer and meditation regarding this subject, in order to unite in righteousness.

With that said, I do believe that in Yah’s time, the Most High will mold His people into one synchronous motion towards fulfilling and completing HIS WILL of bringing together this knowledge and understanding of the particular subject at hand.

This is something that would have to be done in righteousness and His will only.

Forcing it today would not work unless all are in one agreement and in synch spiritually. That is very rare… the majority of the women out there are not on the same page with this understanding, and if this is not handled properly it can actually destroy the family more than it can help it.

I think that if the women are spiritually grounded and have ONE mind and understanding for its purpose and regarding its need….truly serving the Most High to rebuild our people and our nation, then they will automatically possess the RESPECT and understanding that is required to come with this type of situation towards the other women in the home…this is regarding women in AMERICA. Not sure about any where else.

When done in the Most High’s will, it will be done in a peaceful manner and everyone will have that understanding and respect that must come with that. This action is not for everyone, but I read ISAIAH 4:1-2 and it was a hard pill for me to swallow, and it still chokes me up around the lung area from time to time..But nonetheless, it is HIS WORD… This is prophetic. Not all the time where the prophets directed to do things that they liked. Look at Ezekial who was commanded to eat over some human DUNG…and I struggle with my insecurity. One would think accepting another woman into our life would be a piece of cake, whats the problem, right?

Pride….However, I do feel that in the time of distress to come, people will begin to see things in a different light and begin to pull together as a nation. Its ineveitable. Ofcourse, those who choose to serve the Most High in Spirit and in Truth are the ones who will serve HIM in righteousness and pull together in this need. Verse 2 is most important, that In that day, it will be comely and esteemed to the Most High, Yah.

Our people are starting to wake up and see that this is needed. As a women, I must say I possess jealously like no other, but I see that the Most High is molding me. I choose to serve Him in spirit and in truth. I pray that one day he will take that jealousy completely away from me so that I can totally serve Him. Right now, I have to work on my insecurity issues within my own self….scars from the past.

I want to serve my Father and be pleasing in His eyes. I want to be that virtuous woman and be that strong servant that HE needs. Because that is what its gonna take to pull us together as a people/nation again, here in America.

I am not there yet…haven’t met my mark, but I am praying to get there. Surely, in todays world, it would make it much easier to deal with other women who are on the same page as me spiritually and have the same understanding. There is no time for women who are about nonsense and competition. A real honorable man would see that that is not healthy for the familyas a whole.

An extended family is just what it is ‘FAMILY’. Can we all just get along?

As was mentioned earlier, not many woman today are willing to humble themselves for this type of situation. Too many independent women and wanna be “Beyonce’s”…..Again, that is why I believe it will have to be done in the Most High’s time and in His will. He will move this nation to pull together eventually. We have a time of distress coming to our people…”Jacob’s Trouble”… right now its time to prepare.

I got a little winded, but overall, our brothers will have to eventually step up to the plate in spiritual righteousness which will include taking on additional wives and leading this nation back to Yah. Our children are suffering, many of are men and women are so lost. Something is about to take place.

Us women who are being called, so we might as well get ready for this, because it is to come. I personally wish there were more women out there to discuss this subject with on a spiritual level because it will help us grow in understanding together.

Cashing In On His Roots

When he came to Nigeria almost 20 years ago at the urging of his Nigerian friends living in the United States, John Marcus Cashin was enthralled by what he saw. An African-American, his childhood curiosity about the motherland had finally been satisfied but he won’t let go. He decided to stay. Now the chief executive of Metrolan Ventures, authorised resellers of Apple Super Computers, Cashin spoke to DEBO OLADIMEJI on his sojourn in Nigeria.

ALABAMA, United States-born John Marcus Cashin dramatically landed in Nigeria in the process of tracing his roots on Christmas Day in 1988. His singsong had always been: “We are all black. You should remember your brother coming home.”

Cashin recalls growing up in a segregated society, having attended a black nursery school and black kindergarten.

At the University of Alabama, he decided to study Communication and Broadcasting to liberate blacks from racism because “of the politics I grew up with. It is like you interview somebody white, they play it the same way. You interview somebody black, they edit it or only take what they want.

“So I knew the power of that when I was young and my parents complained about how the white reporter misinterpreted what Luther Martin King or Andrew Young said. They all try to confuse us,” he reminisced.

Born in 1959 to Dr. John Cashin, a dentist, now 80 and Mrs. Joan Marie, a psychologist, who passed on in 1997, Marcus, who is the first of three children, comes from an elite family. Like his father, his grandfather, Dr. John Legan Cashin, was also a dentist. His great grandfather, Hershel, one of the first black lawyers in Alabama, graduated from Cheney University in 1869.

Marcus’ sister, Sheryll Denise, graduated with Bachelor of Law from the prestigious Oxford University, England. His father owned a weekly newspaper called The Eagle Eye and a monthly magazine, The Valley Informer, published for Tennessee River Valley.

His father ran for the governorship of Alabama State in 1970 on the platform of his own predominantly black political party, the United Democratic Party of Alabama. The senior Cashin founded the party when, during the 1964 Democratic Convention, he observed that the whites wouldn’t allow the black delegates to have a say.

His father it was who introduced former President Bill Clinton as candidate of the Democrats to the Black Dental Association and the National Democratic Party of Alabama, the black community in Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, New York and Washington DC.

Because his father was preoccupied with political activities and was always travelling for political reasons, Marcus was closer to his mother who happened to be always around to attend to his immediate needs.

She was on the board of the Community Action Agency for the whole of South East United States, an agency that helps the poor and distributes rations for the people on welfare.

His parents, he recalled, were always there to guide them. “Even though they knew something, they would tell us to go and look it up in the dictionary. We thought they were hard on us, not knowing that they were nurturing us on how to become a star in our field,” he said appreciatively.

Marcus attended Integrated University Place Elementary School in Brandon, where he was the first black to attend a white elementary school in the town. He and his brother, Carroll, were the first blacks to attend Integrated Blossom Wood Elementary School for their Second Grade.

He recalls that during his Junior High at Hartsville for his Seventh and Eighth Grade, his history teacher was the only one that gave him a B. “She did not like the way l used to answer my history questions, according to the history books l read in my father’s library. She was not comfortable that black people discovered certain things like George Washington Carver, who invented the machine that makes shoes and Lewis Latimer, who did the installation of the first electric steel lighting in New York City,” he explained.

He also remembers being a wrestler and sprinter while in his Ninth Grade at Ed White Junior High City Champ. He was indeed a state champion wrestler and a chess champion in his Fourth Grade. He attended Slammel Butler High School for his 10th to 12th Grades.

Marcus wanted to be an architect but his mother wanted him to be a doctor because her father, Dr. Marcus Carpenter, was one. However, although he was precocious and did well in the sciences at elementary school, he rebelled or was not keen to go the medical way. So he settled for Broadcasting and Film Communications at University of Alabama, which he wanted to use as a vehicle to project the black race.

“That meant that I got to find the right information and disseminated it to thousands of my people out there,” he stated.

But fortunately or unfortunately, he could not complete it. One day, while he was at the University of Alabama, he met a white lady, who introduced Geological Petroleum Engineering Technology to him, a course he ended up studying at the University of Southern Texas.

“I was riding home with a 25-year-old lady, who told me that she was studying Geology. I said, ‘what does that mean?’ She said that they had a way of getting petroleum out of the rock. I was just anxious to know more about the course,” he recounts. And that was the genesis of his final withdrawal from Alabama to Southern Texas.

While at Southern Texas, he developed more interest in Computer Science, which he did as a course. “I had to learn the computer to see how it worked. That was how I sharpened my knowledge about computer, joined a computer science club and used to go for their programmes.”

After graduation, he had a stint at Philip Petroleum Company in Texas before coming to Nigeria. But he actually started mixing with Nigerians while at Alabama. He had a girl friend, Angel John, who, though not a Nigerian, had lived next door to a Nigerian named Labu Adeleke. “Labu then asked whether I had ever heard about Fela and I said no. He said Fela Kuti, I said no. He said, ‘come over.’ So I went to his house,” Marcus recollects vividly.

Labu, he added, was the first Nigerian he ever met and who introduced him to Fela. Labu was studying Agricultural Science at Alabama University of Agriculture and “was really a cool guy” with whom he has lost contact for somet ime now.

The same Labu also introduced him to other Nigerian musicians such as Sunny Ade. “I like Fela’s music. I started listening to Fela since 1976,” he disclosed, adding that he got to know about FESTAC through Fela’s music.

“So in 1977, Labu invited me to come to FESTAC, saying Stevie Wonder would be there. But I couldn’t make it,” he said regretfully.

His performances at Southern Texas also attracted the attention of many Nigerians. “I was doing well in school and was on the Dean’s list 3.0. They had respect for me and everybody knew my name. Out of about 600 people, half of them were Nigerians. They saw my name out there and many of them became inquisitive about me,” he stated.

His Geography and Geo-Physics lecturer at Southern Texas, Dr. Ken Chinwezu, was also a Nigerian. Chinwezu told his students that the Niger Delta region in Nigeria was just like Louisiana, Mississippi Delta but that there is more oil in the Niger Delta.

“I was still in my last semester but I was working and going to school. We had two classes with him. One will start at 5pm and stop a 7pm and he will take a 30-minute break, then from 7.30 to 9pm, we had another break and everybody who went to a night school knew him,” he said with fond memories.

Marcus decided to follow four Nigerian schoolmates: Paul Ene, Joe Chuks Uzoka, Hyke (IK) Chuks and one Godwin to Nigeria in December 1988.

He retraced this journey to Nigeria: “I remember one of them saying that there was a business that we could do in Nigeria. IK told me that he would fly from New York to Lagos, then to Enugu and from there go to the village. That when I get to his village near Ozalla in Enugu State, I should ask of Chuk’s compound. He asked, ‘are you going to make it?’ and I said, ‘don’t worry, I will plan it.”

He asked IK the meaning of Enugu and was told that it stands for hilltop. “I said, ‘so I am going to the hilltop?”

His friend also gave him the name and phone number of an uncle in Enugu to call once he got to Lagos, because there was no telephone in their village. They agreed to meet on Christmas or Boxing Day of 1988. But he was reminded that if he did not go as planned, he would miss his friend, who was returning to the US after the Yuletide.

So Marcus left Miami for Germany, then to Nairobi, where he stayed for two days before going to Cameroun aboard Ethiopia Airline. He landed in Lagos on Christmas Day of 1988. Aboard the flight, he met some Nigerians as they wined, dined and chatted together.

“We all exchanged addresses. One of them warned me to beware of Nigerians. We landed safely at Murtala Mohammed Airport. N5.32 exchanged for a dollar at that time,” he recalls.

He checked into Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja and later walked down to the bar for some oranges. “I heard somebody calling my name John Cashin. His name is Kentler, a black American. He came to Nigeria too. We knew each other before. I told him that I was planning to go to Enugu to see my classmate.”

He was to go to Enugu the next day but he got to the airport and was told that the defunct Nigeria Airways, which was the national carrier, could not fly because of the harmattan. Then he remembered that if he did not get to Enugu and then his classmate’s village, he could miss him.

So he called IK’s brother office at Enugu and was able to talk to one of the nurses in his office who put him through to IK’s brother, whom he told that he was stranded in Lagos. He finally got another flight to Enugu a week after.

The passenger sitting next to him happened to be one Arthur Nwube, also a graduate of Alabama, who gave him his telephone number in Enugu and his address in Lagos, in case he had any problem.

Marcus eventually found his way to IK’s brother’s office in Enugu around 6.30pm and he sent somebody to take him to the village. They got to Chuks’ compound around 9pm.

“They were playing Prince’s music, Sign of the time in the dark. I said Sign of the time by Prince in the middle of an African jungle? No, it can’t be.””

It later dawned on him that IK brought the tape from Houston, Texas and was playing it in front of his house. “IK couldn’t believe that it was me, at that time of the night,” he recounted.

After a few days, Marcus went to buy a flight ticket back to Lagos, but again the weather was bad. So he had to stay back in the village until the weather improved for the plane to fly.

On getting to the airport, he met Godwin waiting for the same flight back to Lagos. He was on his way back to Houston. Godwin, with whom he used to discuss politics in the US, after a while, looked at him and said: “John Marcus Cashin, you are the only black American that I know that will come to Nigeria and Enugu.”

That was the beginning of Marcus’ sojourn in Nigeria. “We came back to Lagos. I stayed in Sheraton for about three to four weeks on and on. I did not want to go back. He urged me to stay back and renewed my visa for me. That was how I got hooked on Nigeria.”

He got into the computer business in the 1980s while still in school and working part-time. In Nigeria, he soon became an Apple man and a major reseller in Nigeria in 1998.

Marcus has been basically an Apple exporter, buying and reselling in the last 10 years under the auspices of Metrolan Ventures Limited.One thing that fascinated him about Nigeria is the level of freedom and the fact that there is no discrimination among the citizens.

The Apple magnate hopes that there is a drastic improvement in the supply of electricity soon. “You can imagine what the rate of development will be in Lagos with 24 hours supply of electricity,” he opined.

The last time that he visited his people in the United States was in 2001. He is in contact with his brothers and sisters via the telephone and the internet day in day out. His sister, Sheryll, a lawyer, is also into the business of Apple Computers.

He is not planning to marry yet “but it is possible for me to tie the nuptial knots in due course.”

The Destruction of Commandment Keepers, Inc. 1919-2007

The traditional day of mourning for Jews is the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av because on it the temple that King Solomon built in Jerusalem was destroyed first in 586 BCE and then again in 70 AD. Normally the month of Av occurs in August. However, in 2007 the month of Av came in April for members of the Israelite community because that is when our oldest congregation was destroyed. Psalm 137 says, “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget (her skill). Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not.” Similarly, I say if we forget how this once great congregation came to such a pitiful end then we have no reason for having a brain or a heart. Therefore, I have written this article as an epitaph upon the tomb stone of Commandment Keepers Congregation.

Thousands of Israelites passed through its doors and almost every black rabbi in America owes his existence to its presence. Books, articles, and film documentaries have been made about this most famous Israelite place of worship. It was built by a young man named Wentworth Arthur Matthew who at the age of twenty-seven stood on a ladder in the streets of Harlem telling its residents that they were descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and needed to return to their God. In 1919 he assembled a hand full of men and women who believed enough, loved enough, and were willing to sacrifice enough to build a congregation for God’s honor and glory. Over the next eighty-eight years of its life it would be located at several places in Harlem. When my parents joined it in 1957 it was located above a drug store at 87 West 128th street. In 1962 it moved into a mansion built in 1890 for John Dwight, one of the founders of the Arm and Hammer Company.

In 1942 Rabbi Matthew published a memoir called the Minute Book, it was a summary of the early years of the congregation. In it he described those first decades as the “most gigantic struggle of any people for a place under the sun.”1 By this he was referring to the other black synagogues that did not survive the Great Depression such Beth B’nai Avraham and the Moorish Zionist Temple founded by Rabbi Arnold Ford and Rabbi Mordica Herman respectively. Even Commandment Keepers had lost a residence but the congregation—which is always more than the building that houses it—survived. Their faith in God and love for each other allowed them to overcome forces that had destroyed even Marcus Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association.

When the congregation moved into its final home, Rabbi Matthew himself painted the number “one” on the vestibule door. In part it represented the address, 1 West 123rd Street, but on a deeper level it represented Rabbi Matthew’s dream that Commandment Keepers would be the first (and possibly best) of many black synagogues to follow. In fact, some of its stationery referred to the congregation as “Headquarters” and it was thought of as such by many of Matthew’s students throughout New York and Chicago until its decline. Moreover, in the minds of many people outside of our community, Commandment Keepers Congregation was synonymous with Black Jews. Because of its unique history it was the only black synagogue in the United States that was recognized as an historic landmark.

The Fall
The Talmud says “when the parties to a suit are standing before thee, let them both be regarded by thee as guilty, but when they are departed from thy presence, regard them both as innocent, the verdict having been acquiesced in by them.”2 – Avot 1:8. Therefore, if we were to apply this teaching to the parties responsible for the loss of Commandment Keepers Congregation then publicly we would have to say that they are all guilty. Indeed, we are all guilty of things we did or failed to do that might have changed this outcome. However, the scriptural images that comes to my mind is the case of the two woman who came before King Solomon both claiming to be mother of one living child. Here, too, both sides in this calamity claim that they are the rightful leaders and owners of the building. King Solomon’s verdict to divide the baby in half relied upon the belief that the true mother would say the child’s life is more important than her being right. Therefore, she would give up her claim to save the child.

“The woman whose son was alive was filled with compassion for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!” But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!” – I King 3:26
Thinking about what happened to Commandment Keepers Congregation is like watching an explosion in slow motion. The fire there had been burning slowly and internally almost since the death of our founder, Chief Rabbi W.A. Matthew, in 1973. Reliving what happened there is like performing an autopsy or writing a manual for how to destroy a synagogue from within.

Each side in this internecine struggle thought that they were fighting the enemy when, in fact, they were fighting themselves. Hence, they were committing suicide as they murdered the congregation. On some level this was obvious to everyone except those who were most emotionally obsessed with the battle. Over the decades attempts by respected individuals and organization within the Israelite community to broker a peace were repeatedly rejected by both sides. As Rabbi Hailu Paris describes the squabbling the plagues our community, “Yom Kippurs came and went without any forgiveness.” Conciliatory phone calls were made and letters of reconciliation were written, but they seemed locked in a downward spiral of accusations, confrontation, litigation—somehow believing that the next law suite will finally resolve the problem. Even now, the sale of the building may not be the end of the feuding. The last attempt was made about three years ago. I informed the parties that the Israelite Board of Rabbis was willing to convene at Bet Din (Rabbinic Court) to resolve this issue and finally heal this open wound which has been a blight on our entire community. Both sides rejected this offer; once again putting their individual wants above the needs of their congregation and ignoring the institutions of the Israelite community that they claim to cherish.3

“Two households, both alike in dignity…” The words that Shakespeare used to open his tragic play Romeo and Juliet would be a fair description of the two families that were at the heart of the conflict that destroyed Commandment Keepers Congregation. Both families were honorable and distinguished. One of the warring camps was led by Rabbi David Dore, the grandson of Chief Rabbi Matthew, and the other combatants were led by the late Rabbi Chaim White, one of Chief Rabbi Matthew’s most loyal and trusted students. By most accounts, Rabbi Matthew expected these parties to work together. He never imagined that they would become entangled in a struggle to the death for control of what he built.

Commandment Keepers 87 West 128th Street Rabbi Matthew’s two sons had not followed in his rabbinic footsteps; therefore he naturally placed great hope in David, his daughter’s son. Although he was advancing in years, before the chief rabbi retired he ordained his grandson. Rabbi Dore was only seventeen at the time, the youngest rabbi ever ordained in our community, and the news of his elevation took some by surprise. Still a student at Yeshiva High School, Rabbi Dore was looking forward to his studies at Yeshiva University. He was bright and promising but obviously too young to lead a congregation alone. Rabbi White was a dedicated, faithful, and proud man. He was also a gifted speaker as opposed to a Torah scholar or Baal Tefillah. It may very well be that the source of animus between the two men stemmed from the perception in their eyes that the younger was arrogant and disrespectful and the older was insecure and ill prepared. What is certain is that both men could have benefited from the other’s strengths. Instead, what followed was a series of insults and counter insults that started small and eventually grew, consuming what could have been a strong partnership—or at least a smooth transition—and replacing it with a bitter and ugly feud that continued for almost three decades and ended in self-destruction. Each side claims that the other committed the first intolerable act that justified his subsequent bad behavior.

Tension turned into open rebellion when Rabbi Dore was locked out of the synagogue and effectively banned from the bimah in the early 1980s. From Rabbi Dore’s perspective this was the start of the coup d’état that wrongly deposed him of the position his grandfather bequeathed. Rabbi White regarded that moment as the necessary actions taken by the congregation’s legitimate board to deal with an ungovernable member. Although a few people took sides in this civil war, most people whose history in our community extends back for thirty years or more remember these events like a child who grew up in a dysfunctional family. We did not wish for a winner in the fight between father and mother or our sister and our brother. We simply wanted the fighting to end and prayed that the wonderful times we shared together with the combatants when we were as one unified and harmonious family could return.

Other low points on the road to destruction include a sidewalk bar mitzvah in 1994 when Rabbi Dore’s son was forced to enter manhood on the curb because they were not allowed to use the sanctuary. Almost ten years later another flurry of law suits occurred and the altercations became more violent as Rabbi Dore claimed that he was pushed to the floor inside the building following a prayer service by someone close to Rabbi White. Police were brought in on several occasions including one in which people close to Rabbi Dore hired a locksmith to enter and temporarily occupy the building. As late as 2006, several people including Rabbinit White were physically assaulted on the Sabbath while trying to enter the synagogue. These incidents did not occur frequently but their severity and unpredictability created a climate of hostility that weighed on the declining congregation like death itself.

During this long embattled period, Rabbi Dore entered into a self-imposed exile during which he virtually cut himself off from the rest of the Israelite community. Except for an occasional funeral or wedding he was rarely seen. He was not a member of the Israelite Board of Rabbis, he did not teach in the Israelite Rabbinical Academy, and he did not generally worship at black congregations. In contrast, the White family—particularly Rabbi and Rabbinit White—remained engaged in the Israelite community beyond Commandment Keepers Congregation. It may be that Rabbi Dore and his supporters assumed, incorrectly, that any person or synagogue that welcomed the Whites was ipso facto against the Dores and vice versa. Without a doubt the family feud at Commandment Keepers was a blight on the entire community, but there was very little that people outside the congregation could do to ameliorate the situation. The families of Rabbi Yehoshua Yahonatan and Rabbi Levi Ben Levy urged the parties to seek a compromise, but during most of the period these rabbis were building new congregations in Brooklyn, Queens, and Mt. Vernon.4 It was hoped that when a new rabbi was appointed, Rabbi Zechariah Ben Lewi, following his ordination in 2000 that he might be able to usher in a new period of reconciliation—since he was not a party to any of the earlier fighting. Sadly, things declined even more precipitously as members who stuck with the congregation through earlier storms grew weary and frustrated. As one of these members described it, near the end “it wasn’t the fighting outside that turned me away, it was the fighting inside.”

David Lee, the Gabi of the congregation and a fierce supporter of the Whites, told the Israelite Board of Rabbis that the decision to sell the building in April 2007 for a reported $1.6 million dollars was not easy. Since he and other principles to the original dispute are now in their seventies and eighties, it may be that they feared that the building might have fallen into the hands of their nemesis should they die or retire. Rather than see this happen, they sold the synagogue without so much as a memorial service, which is requisite when a synagogue is closed. Members were not even told of the last service or given an opportunity to pay their last respects. No efforts were made to find homes for the Torahs, religious articles, or financial proceeds from the sale within the Israelite community. Needless to say, the manner in which all this occurred added a degree of sadness that is worse than had the building burned down because that would have been an accident but this was done with an element of spite and hate—the two things that really destroy a congregation.

In retrospect, the handwriting was on the wall. Like Babylon our hearts and actions were measured and found lacking. Therefore, as tragic as this is, I yet believe that it is a warning from a merciful God asking us to look at how we behave. We should be embarrassed by the spectacle that we see in the mirror enough to change. In this conflict there was no mother who was willing to sacrifice her desires in order to save the child. Learn from this warning. Do not let divisions fester in your congregation. Our problems will never be solved by courts, police, or any outside bodies. We must love each other, support each other, and trust our own institutions. If they are weak then we must work to make then stronger as if our survival depends upon it because it does.

We did not lose this part of our foundation to a tragic fire, nor was it due to a lack of financial resources, nor were racist or anti-Semites to blame. No! We loss that building because self-interest became more important than devotion to Hashem and love of each other. Thus, the memory of that building has now become a monument to self-destruction.

The original biblical and Hebrew Jews were a black African people. The present day counterfeit Jews are white people from Europe called “Khazars”, and they usurped the real Jews. However, the real black African and African American Jews can, and have proved that they are the descendents of the original Jews by way of Genetic testing-which has proven not only that they are the real and direct descendents of the original black African Jews, but a proximation of the tribe they are from, too. The present white Khazar Jews are converted Jews-and are not even the descendents of the original black Jews of Africa-and DNA testing has already proven this-even after the Khazars tried to tamper with the testing in order to justify their immoral and violent occupation of north central Israel. The black Jews already have their established homelands in Southern Israel, and have for over 50 years now. No black can even enter Israel without being genetically tested to prove they are a Jew first. Presently, there are over 5000 African Americans living in the black Jewish settlements of southern Israel, and millions more living in the various black Jewish settlements on the African Continent. The present converted white Khazar Jews of Israel can try and claim that anyone speaking negatively against them are “anti-semitic”, however, they are not semitic, but converted Jews who are unlawfully occupying Israel, and helping bring the American economy to its knees for their own economic goals, and to try and gain world power. They know they have to destroy the present super power, and they know that getting America embroiled in war is a quick way of accomplishing this. The Khazars used tactics and strategies like this in Ancient times because they were successful-and they are using them today with Ameirca, while pretending to be America’s friend-because these tactics are successful. However, their future has already been fortold in the book Ezekiel…

…The original Jews in Africa 2000 years ago were a Black African people as an
ethnic group. (Massey: Egypt Light of the Word p.501) Many of them still are
Black, in northern Africa such as the Falasha Jews of Ethiopia.

A New York Times editorial (3/2/84) described them as “a lost tribe that has
kept its identity for more than 2,000 years in a remote corner of Africa.”
Abraham, ancestor of the Hebrews, was from Chaldea; the ancient Chaldeans were
Black. In fact, Africa takes it name from Ophren, a son of Abraham by his wife,
Keturah (Whiston: The Life and Works of Flavius Josephus p.50) Like Jesus, Mary
and Joseph, the lineage of Ethiopian Emperor, Haile Selassie also goes back to
Judah — through Solomon/Queen of Sheba and King David.

Roman historian Tacitus wrote that many of his time believed that the Jews “were
a race of Ethiopian origin.” The Bible classifies the Ethiopians and Jews
together, “Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of
Israel? saith the Lord.” (Amos 9:7) Black Paul is mistaken for an “Egyptian” and
declares himself to be a “Jew.” (Acts 21:37-39, 22: 2,3) That the Jews got their
language, religion and culture from the Canaanites and Sumerians through
Babylon, is well documented by historians. The original ancient Hebrew alphabet
was identical to that of the Phoenicians. “Semitic languages” are really
dialectical variants of African languages.

The word Semite is from semi which means half. Half what? Half BLACK! (mulatto!)
Semite refers to the descendants of Shem, one of Noah’s sons. The word
originates from the Latin prefix semi which means half. “half Black and half
white… therefore Black (since Black is genetically dominant)” points out Dr.
Cress Welsing. Historian Cheikh Anta Diop also points out that the “Semitic”
arises in the 4th millennia B.C. from crossbreeding between Black inhabitants of
the holy land and white northern invaders.

While many Semites (such as Jews and gypsies) have mixed so much with whites
that they’ve forgotten or deny their African roots, racism (white supremacy)
will never let them forget this no matter how light-skinned they become, as
proved by Hitler, who mandated their destruction because they were classified by
whites as “non-white” people originating in Africa. The very word gypsy means
“out of Egypt.” And the very words Egypt, Jew, African, Negro, Cush, Israel, and Ethiopia all mean black or black in skin color.

African Americans are largely descendants of the original Black Jews, and genetic testing has proved this fact! However, some African Americans are not Jews, but can still trace their African lineage back to various places in Africa such as Egypt, Ghana, etc. and white European bloodlines do to the rape of black women during slavery, or sexual relations between blacks and whites in the past.
The original Biblical Jews were Black African people who were ruthlessly persecuted
by the white man (Romans). The prophet Jesus (original name was Yeshua) was a Black Jew who was born during
time of the Roman occupation of black Israel. The Roman-Jewish War in 66 A.D. marked the peak of this persecution
and the end of the original Black Jews (Hebrew-Israelites) as a nation, and the execution of Jesus on the cross for trying to rid Jerusalem of its Roman occupation. Later, Jesus was made out to be a myth by the Romans and other white Europeans at several councils, his name was changed from Yeshua to Jesus, his race was changed from black to white, he was labelled the Messiah of the Jews and put to death, then the lie about his resurrection and return was put in the white man’s holy books in order to try and create confusion about what really happened. This is why today’s white pastor is trying to claim that the black church is racist-because along with DNA and existing ancient documentations, the black church speaks truth to power. And, the real truth is that whites living in Israel cannot win their war, because they are not the original Jews, and are not recognized as the original Jews by all concerned-except the American government who blindly helps them. However, all is not what it seems in the land called Israel, and force to power will be the next stage of conflict in Israel-then as it is written, “the Lord shall come”.

As predicted by Jesus, in this war Jerusalem was overthrown, the Temple was
destroyed and the Black Hebrews were scattered. (Mat. 24:15-21, Luke 21: 5,6,
20-24) The loss of life was appalling. So many Hebrews were slain that the whole
lake of Galilee was red with blood and covered with corpses. The noted
historian, Josephus estimated that one million one hundred thousand perished in
the siege of Jerusalem alone, reports Hugh Schonfield in his book The Passover
Plot p.192-195, which describes this massive genocide.

Seeking to escape destruction, millions of original Black Biblical Jews fled
into AFRICA! Centuries later, their descendants were captured and sold into slavery in the
Americas! Ella Hughley’s remarkable booklet The Truth About Black Biblical
Hebrew-Israelites exposes and summarizes important details of this suppressed
subject. She writes “Many of the Israelites… who managed to escape their
persecutors during the Roman-Jewish War subsequently migrated to West Africa,
and 16,000 years later their descendants were captured and brought to America in
chains by cruel slave-traders.”

She quotes the noted Jewish historian, Josephus from his book The Great
Roman-Jewish War: 66-70, where he writes about this Jewish dispersion and
captivity. “General Vaspasian and his son Caesar Titus fought against the Jews.
Millions of Jews fled into Africa, among other places, fleeing from Roman
persecution and starvation during the siege.” In African Origins of Major Wester
Religions p.75, Dr. Yusef ben-Jochannan writes “there were many Hebrew (Jewish)
tribes that were of indigenous African origin, These African Jews were caught in
a rebellion in Cyrene … during 115 C.E.

This rebellion also marked the beginning of a mass Jewish migration southward
into Sudan of West Africa.” Arab historian, Ibn Battuta writes of finding Jews
scattered across North and West Africa during his travels. The Hebrewisms of
numerous tribes, especially in West Africa is well documented.

If the original Jews were Black, where did white Jews come from? There are two
main types of white Jews; the Edomites and the Khazars. Edomites are the
descendants of Esau, who was born ruddy (red) and hairy according to the Bible.
(Gen. 25:25) This describes the “white” man; he is red (all shades) and hairy.
Esau was the albino, fraternal twin brother of Jacob, the father of the original
Black Israelites. The white Edomites and Black Israelites were constantly in
strife against one another.

In fact, the Edomites fought the Black Jews in the Roman-Jewish War. At a later
period in history, the Edomites (Idumeans) were conquered and forced to become
“Jews.” The European Khazars became “Jews” in 740 A.D. (see below) Neither
groups are descended from the house of Israel! Khazars make up over 90% of the
so-called “Jews!” (Hatonn)

The world’s best kept secret? Hugley writes “These groups… [Khazars esp., plus
Edomites and other ethnic groups] make up modern Jewry today. Although the black
Hebrew-Israelites are the real descendants of ancient Israel, this truth is not
known by many and it is ‘the world’s best kept secret.’ Because of slavery and
scattering, the Hebrew-Israelites are not known to the world as true Israel…

Some scholars, teachers and ministers teach that God has completely cast them
away, but God said, ‘I have chosen thee, and have not cast thee away.’ (Isa.
41:9, last part.) [& Rm. ch.11] Although the children of Israel went into
captivity, a remnant has returned as was predicted. The prophecy of Ezekiel 37th
chapter tells of the spiritual resurrection of the people of Israel, who will be
perpetually betrothed to their God in truth and in righteousness.” There are
numerous Black-Hebrew congregations in America. “Temple Bethel” is the largest &
oldest (in Belleville, VA).

“Jews” were a heavy part of the African slave trade in the America! Compiled
from Jewish documents, The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews by the
Nation of Islam reveals the vast Jewish involvement in the Atlantic slave trade.
“Jews” were also major slave sellers during the Middle Ages. (Van Sertima:
African Presence in Early Europe p.161) These “Jewish” slave-sellers were
probably not “real Jews” at all but Khazars. (see below)

Counterfeit Jews: the hated, white “Khazars” who have usurped the real Jews! …
Historians are now recognizing that the majority of eastern so-called “Jews” are
actually “Khazars” and have NO Semitic roots whatsoever! The Khazars are
impostors: well-suppressed knowledge is emerging about this war-like tribe of
whites that rose to power in Eastern Europe and were hated by the other whites
they conquered due to there severe, exploitative treatment of them. The Khazars
all converted to Judaism as a political ploy during the Middle Ages. It appears
that they learned all they could from the real Hebrews before usurping them,
selling them into slavery (or killing them) and taking over in their place, —
using the corrupted form of Judaism to hide behind while continuing their
treachery right into modern times.

Much of Europe’s historical hate for “Jews” is hate for the ruthless Khazars who
continued to be hated in spite of becoming “Jews.” In fact, the word “Jew”
originated during the 1700s to label them! (Hatonn: p.3, 17) Counterfeit
