Wisconsin Maneuvers
Jackie Calmes and Amy Schatz report on the presidential campaign.

“On Wisconsin,” as the state song goes, and for Tuesday’s presidential primary, Democratic favorite Barack Obama’s campaign is trying to tamp down high expectations for the Illinois senator, and raise them for rival Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York.

The intent is to get more credit in the realm of perceptions should Sen. Obama win, as expected — even if the outcome is close — or to soften the blow should Sen. Clinton pull off the upset she so badly needs after eight straight losses.

Besides Wisconsin, Sen. Obama’s childhood home of Hawaii, where he is also favored, holds caucuses Tuesday.

“We expect Wisconsin to be a very, very competitive contest,” Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said Monday in a media conference call. He noted it is the sort of state the Clinton campaign claims to prefer — more populous, with more blue-collar voters and proportionally fewer African-Americans, and holding a primary election rather than the caucuses where Sen. Obama typically has out-organized Sen. Clinton.

As Mr. Plouffe also noted, Sen. Clinton abruptly scheduled campaign stops — she had several on Monday, after bad weather caused postponements Sunday — and increased her advertising buys.

The senator from neighboring Illinois remains favored, given voters’ familiarity with him and the state’s historic penchant for progressivism and change, which he has sought to embody. The campaign’s internal projections last week had him winning 53% to 46%, and in Hawaii 52% to 47%.

Days ago, the Clinton campaign seemed poised to cede Wisconsin, as it has some smaller states, to focus instead on March 4 showdowns in Ohio and Texas. But strategists decided she should compete, to hold down Sen. Obama’s margin of victory and his delegate haul, or even to beat him.

In Wisconsin, “we’re doing every thing we can as well as we can,” said Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s communication director, in a conference call with reporters. “I do not subscribe to the momentum theory of American politics that some have offered lately,” he said, noting that voters choose candidates based on who they think would be a good president and are not “stampeded in one way or another.”

“We feel very good about Ohio and Texas,” he added.

A lot hinges on the effectiveness of the recent negative advertisements that Hillary Clinton ran. Ignorant voters in the under-30-years-old group have flocked to Barack Hussein Obama. Because they are ignorant, they base their decisions on emotion. These under-30-years-old voters are drawn to the inspirational speeches — by Barack Hussein Obama.

Negative advertisements are most effective in changing the emotions of emotional people.

Did the advertisements work? We will know on Tuesday.

(NOTE:I HAVE WEEDED OUT MOST OF THE RACIST AND CONFUSING,IGNORANT COMMENTS. BENI!(YES I DID!)

Get real would you vote for someone called Barack Hussein Obama for president of America.

Comment by James Russello – February 18, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Your comments are extremely offensive and racist. Is this the picture of Americans you want to convey to the rest of the world because that is exactly what you are doing?

Comment by janine – February 18, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Barack Hussein Obama is a GREAT AMERICAN, CHRISTIAN and PATRIOT.

And other Democrats: WISE UP.

Because if he isn’t the nominee, I’m not voting for Clinton because of her negative smear campaign.

Period. It is comments like the others on this page why I am supporting Obama. I am angry at the idiots who want to vilify, demonize and attack others who they disagree with.

Rather than offering any substantive comments they mention his middle name Hussein, like it is actually a bad thing…

The real idiots, the real ‘un-Americans” are those out here making blanket attacks based on nothing other than their own ignorance.

You idiots are destroying this country.

Senator Barack Obama is getting my vote. If he isn’t the nominee — I’m switching parties and campaigning for McCain just to send a big screw you to all you manipulative, misleading, Clinton fanatics.

Don’t believe me?

Watch me.

Comment by I am voting for Obama – February 18, 2008 at 4:05 pm
The old way is to divide people based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, and other categorizations, as the author of the previous posts has attempted. The old times are over. The new are not fooled by the old tricksters. We will not be divided by those devious ways. Enough is enough. We have sufferred enough due to the devious deeds of the ‘divide and conquer’ politicians. Out with the old. In with the new. We are entering an era of post racial, post gender, post ethnic, post categoury America. Vote with you heart and soul. Don’t let the old time politicians, and their surrogates, like the person who posted the above posts scare you from voting with your conscience. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Good leaders by any name would provide good leadershp.

Comment by PJudice – February 18, 2008 at 4:06 pm
It is amazing how much a person can take from a name. Because his middle name is Hussein you wouldn’t vote for him because he reminds you of who Saddam. Mind you Saddam was 14 when Barack was born so to even imply that name Hussein is of some type of importance as a reason not to vote for someone is IGNORANT! This is coming not just from a supporter but an informed individual. By the way Hussein means Handsome One (or Good one or Small One)if there is anything to take from the name it is the implication of there meanings. Also Please explain Senator Clinton’s significant accomplishments while she was apart of the Senate or as First Lady. I would wager to say they are on par for the lack of accomplishment you say that Senator Obama has.

“I DONOT HAVE ANY OTHER CHOICE .THANKS …..F. RONDON”

Judging by your comment I have serious doubts you could even find a polling place.

Much less decipher the ballot.

Comment by Davebo – February 18, 2008 at 4:16 pm
:))))) Oh my God … I am surprised. Americans please read and learn from history. Obama indeed is totally overrated. He uses words (not only herein caught by news) from others without any innovations, and claimed to lead. … Leading and stealing are not identical.

I hope that Americans choose substance – choose Hillary!

Comment by Meg – February 18, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Although I think negative advertisements are as much a misunderstanding of statistics by campaign staff as relying on polls, I *do* take issue with those who think it’s wrong for a candidate to be manipulative.

There’s a well-known, half-a-millenium old book, that explains in fine detail how a ruler should behave to protect his people to the max: “Il Principe”, by Niccolo Machiavelli.

This book is often misunderstood to endorse manipulation for the ruler’s own good, but that isn’t Machiavelli’s goal.

In this sense one needs to understand Clinton’s remark about MLK needing LBJ: To enact MLK’s ideals into law, he needed the manipulative ruler LBJ. King was smart enough to know this to be the case – and he worked on it.

Comment by Toon Moene – February 18, 2008 at 4:20 pm
This is like reading a republican blog. Even the same disregard for real substance.

Comment by Bob – February 18, 2008 at 4:24 pm
“Ignorant voters in the under-30-years-old group have flocked to Barack Hussein Obama. Because they are ignorant, they base their decisions on emotion”

This is so offensive. People can’t come to rational choices until the are over 30?

Comment by BobC – February 18, 2008 at 4:26 pm
The smear campaign has gone both ways. Clinton calls out Obama, Obama calls out Clinton. It is politics. Whoever the nominee is will get it 100 times worse from the Republicans. Clinton is a democrat first and logical informed people will tell you that she wouldn’t do anything to hurt the party. Despite what some Obama backers say.

I’m an Edwards supporter (was) and have yet to decide who to vote for. The recent talk of Obama copying speeches is a bit troublesome as is the fact that he uses a teleprompter while Clinton doesn’t. On the other hand, Clinton is more of the same, but I’ve yet to see that Obama is really that much different.

Comment by Cdays – February 18, 2008 at 4:32 pm
I AM VOTING FOR BARACK OBAMA FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS (ALTHOUGH I AM NOT UNDER 30)

1)He opposed the unnecessary war in Iraq from the beginning. A war that’s cost us 4,000 American Lives, 500 billion dollars and has killed between 81,000 and 700,000 Iraqui civilians. As you probably know Sen. Clinton voted for this war.

2) The Obama campaign has not accepted money from Washington lobbyists. The Clinton campaign has accepted even more than McCain.

3) Obama has the best chance of beating McCain: He’s betting my 6 to 10 points in all the polls whereas, Cinton is trailing McCain in all the polls. Conservative republicans who are not motivated because McCain moderate will become motivated if Clinton becomes the nominee. Lets face it, nothing unites Republicans like a Clinton.

4) Obama won’t financially penalize people who don’t support his healthcare plan.

5) I believe Obama is the most honest. He has not negatively attacked Clinton the way she is attacking him.

6) Obama is more vetted at he has released his tax-returns while Clinton refuses.

7)He has run a much better campaign making him a stronger evidence that he is the one who can change this country for the best!

Comment by Richard – February 18, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Barack Hussein Obama sounds pretty damn good to me, and I’ll be voting for him. However, I could NEVER vote for someone named James Russello, the race-baiting poster above. What kind of name is Russello anyway? Ewww icky poo.

James, your ignorance is showing.

Comment by Lori – February 18, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I’m voting for Barack, but if Hillary got it, and put Barack Obama as her VP, That’d be a DREAM TEAM and would be unbeatable in the polls

Comment by Walldog – February 18, 2008 at 4:38 pm
He talks about change, but nothing about how and to what. His speeches incorprtae plagiarized ideas and policies put forward by Hillary Clinton; However, Obama is very good at it — Cliton’s idea of today is incorpoted in his ‘Yes We Can’ speech the next day.

Comment by Terasathi – February 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Obama’s approach with phrases like ‘This campaign is not about race’ is quite clever. From this, to the Blacks it is the intended message of race, while to the others Obama wants to show that he is up-and-up. Quuite devious!!

Comment by Hamsafar – February 18, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Look at Barack Obama’s ideas, he is more than a decent orator. The test will come when he has to deliver on his vision. Question #1: Will he have the support to sustain his influential zeal when in office? Question #2: Will he have the political, social and economic structure to run his machine towards his goals?
It would be nice if he was able deliver on such a vision .. show me now ..!

Comment by Potential – February 18, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Did you hear about the economic historian who spent decades analyzing Russia’s 5-year plans? He fianlly published his work in 1995 and concluded that the Soviet system would most likely fail.

People who call for exact plans and programs are like that writer. They carefully compare talking points. They debate this versus that aspect of candidates’ proposals.

But, reality is like a battle: the plan is out the window when the first shot is fired.

The only plan that will not happen is the one now proposed by a candidate. All will be products of compromise and ingredients of the moment.

The only person who has stuck to a detailed plan all the way and, consequently, failed big time, Hillary.

Sadly, McCain is sacrificing his flexibility, too, to capture the die-hard 30% who still worship Bush.

Obama has the smarts and charm to make things work. Call it finesse.

We need some now.

Comment by TWstroud – February 18, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Obama wants to change Washington. By this he must mean the the enire body (435 members) of Congress and 100 Senators. Does he imply these public servants are corrupt, inapt and inefficent? Obviously, Obama the President, supported by Rezko, will wave his magic wand of honesty to make America pure and trustworthy.

Comment by Audacious – February 18, 2008 at 5:05 pm
CHANGE? SPECIFICALLY FROM WHAT, TO WHAT…AND HOW?
WHEN MR. SMITH WENT TO WASHINGTON, HE FOUND OUT THAT SAYING SOMETHING AND MAKING IT HAPPEN ARE COMPLETELY TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. TO HIS FICTIONAL CREDIT, HOWEVER, AT LEAST MR. SMITH WAS SPECIFIC ABOUT THE CHANGES HE WAS TALKING ABOUT.

Comment by PLEASE DEFINE – February 18, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Funny, Obama shows up and campaigns from day 1, clinton shows up after the fact and decides Wisconsin is good enough? Vote Obama, at least he showed up in person from the start.

Comment by PeterThrun – February 18, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Come on guys,
Aren’t you tired of all those Washington creeps? Also, anyone who spends money from his/her pocket to get nomination is power-greedy to me. Example: Romney, Clinton. Hakabee is probably stupid but at least he is not spending money from his pocket. Forget about issues, Clinton is boring and a creep. Her husband was ok but now a serious creep.

Comment by Neel – February 18, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I did not inhale! I did not have sexual relations with that woman! What a disgrace to our great country! I don’t know why you people want to put Bill Clinton back in the White (Stain) House. What kind of message are you trying to send to your children? That it is okay for a dishonest person who commits adultery to be bestowed the nation’s top job? I can’t believe Hillary is even running for President. They both are a disgrace to America! WAKE UP AND VOTE FOR OBAMA!!! It’s time for a change!!!!!

Comment by Anyone but the Clintons – February 18, 2008 at 5:32 pm
They have just shown 6 instances that Hillary has plagerized. The clinton’s aren’t very smart, so far all their whining has done is lose support. They were ahead by almost 30 points in every state just two months ago, some just a couple of weeks ago. and now the polls show it even in Texas, Hillary is done.

Comment by Sam – February 18, 2008 at 5:39 pm
ask the Clinton’s why they were taking money from foreign dictators while Hillary was voting in the Senate, is this why she won’t release their income tax returns?

Comment by Mike – February 18, 2008 at 5:41 pm
I appreciate the comments from Richard. They reflect many of the reasons I support Sen. Obama. I deeply troubled by the racist statements . . . . However disturbing, they reflect the fact that there’s much more work to be done in America to rid ourselves of ignorance and intolerance.

These types of feature articles are meant to insight colorful comments. They’re nothing more than revenue-generating vehicles for WSJ.com . . . . shame on them for proffering yellow journalism and shame on us for consuming such yellow journalism.

The stakes of this race are the highest they’ve been. A Hillary/Bill Clinton nomination means the Republicans and conservative Democrats will make certain McCain wins the White House. We’ll see more ultra-conservative Judges being appointed to the federal bench . . . including the U.S. Supreme Court and we’ll have another four years of subjecting out young men and women to a war that should have never been started. More death, more grief-striken famlies, more rising gasoline price and, oh yes, more spin about how we Americans are safer than we were before McCain took office.

Sen. Obama is not perfect; I’m certain he’ll make his share of mistakes. Downplaying the rhetoric (e.g., Gerald F. Seib’s peice), Sen. Obama has communicated, and continues to convey both substance and style. The substantive information is readily available for anyone’s consumption. If you believe the pollsters, Sen. Obama is drawing on folks who are both well educated and maintain high income levels. Those folks are stupid. There’s a reason they’re gravitating towards Sen. Obama . . . He’s better qualified, he’s better organized, he’s smart and he’s sincere. His message is now beginning to resonate with Americans who traditionally supported Hillary/Bill Clinton.

What’s truly inspiring is that for the first time we’ve a candidate who, in plan words, indicates he’s more focused on fixing this country than worrying about how he’s going to stay in office for a full 8 years. Essentially, he’s saying, (and I paraphrase) if I do my job, I won’t have to worry about being re-elected for another 4 year term because I’ll earn your vote over my first 4 year term . . . .

This guy has the courage and conviction to be a great president. I pray we grant him the opportunity . . . .

Obama’s plagiarism is the issue I have been writing about all the time, and you folks have been ignoring… You may not agree that he stole Deval Patrick’s speech, but how can you ignore:
Bob The Builder Can We Build It?
Bob The Builder YES WE CAN!
Bob The Builder Can We Fix it?
Bob The Builder YES WE CAN!

Comment by AL – February 18, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I always her using Obama’s words. Why isn’t that plagiarism? I think she has stolen just about every slogan he has had, about a week after he says something she uses it. I was always a hillary fan, although I have to be honest I was leaning towards Obama. But i really don’t like when she attacks, she seems evil whe she does. It is just making his case about turning the page and to stop the bickering. Is she trying to help him?

Obama is betting his candidacy on mindless young voters and republican voters. I doubt he will continue have their support in November.

Comment by Republican’s Trick – February 18, 2008 at 7:06 pm
please note, obama supporters tend to be college-educated whereas clinton voters tend not to be. so what’s up with these incorrect aspersions that somehow barack’s supporters are supporting him due to less knowledge or education?

I was a Hillary Clinton Supporter until today! I love hillary and she is a woman that shows the utmost resilance of a woman (Bill). But I have been to a few events of hers and Baracks and I always liked him but Ive been a life long supporter of Hillary but for her to say that he used some one elses words is CRAZY! I have noticed for a months that she has used things that barack has supported from the start!

Including his Fired Up, Ready To Go Frase! I looked it up it was put into the lime light from an older woman in south carolina and she wanted barack to use it!

Also to add insult to injury My girl Hillary has all of a suddenly decided to support The bill that Helps Support American Workers…. I did some real research about this topic and She actully supported NAFTA (ships american jobs over seas). Barack calls it the politics of now! She supports this bill because she has to really plead her case to people like me (DOWN SCALE BLUE COLLAR VOTERS!)
I finally realize that sen. Obama has changed america Already! My daughter is so engaged and wants him to win so bad! Not because of just his words but because of his ability also to inspire and active the american people! I support barack now over Hillary because she will do anything to win! BUT I STILL LOVE HER… WE NEED barack now thought

Its funny how americans tend to view themselves. Its funny how u think you have friends around the world, when you are the most hated nation in the world, solely for this reason ‘DIVIDE AND RULE’. The so-called friends of america are just business partners. America has no true friend, not even among the British (funny that the 2 governments appear best of friends, while underneath, the average british citizen sees americans as totally ignorant fools). i can gaurantee that this would only be made more obvious if Hilary wins the nomination. Arent you guys tired as being viewed as ignorant and stupid by the rest of the world? If i were a terrorist, my greatest fear would be putting Barrack Obama in office, cos he’s the only one preaching for peace, as a result i’ll run the risk of drawing the wrath of the full international community if i keep attacking US interests (simple logic!). U guys should wake up!!! The world is watching, more than ever.

Gregory Dayton of Milwaukee,
Switched to Dems for what? To increase income taxes, social security cap, dividend taxes, and cap gains taxes, AND to drive away businesses to other parts of the world? To socialize healthcare just to see how much more Washington politicians can mismanage? Are you OK? I understand you don’t like Bush. Obama spent $90M on earmarks, and Hillary another $340M. McCain spent $0 — the ONLY one in Washington who has respect for your and my tax dollars. Don’t just vote for anyone because you’re not happy with Bush.

Barack Obama is a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak landscape of ’same old’ politicos. Time for meaningful change. The possibilities trump the potential negatives. It’s time to truly remember the definition of insanity and apply it to our Presidential politics. ‘Doing the same thing, with the same people, in the same way’ would be insanity indeed.

Comment by Ray – February 18, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Experience got this country nowhere. Today politicians have a stigma hanging over their heads as being a corrupt official. Bush is an oil tycoon. Hillary and Bill are trying to play it off that they are happy together and that everything is ok. That is a bunch of bs, they both want back in the white house. It must be nice there. Obama has a good strong family backbone with good strong family morals and values. Him and his wife both attended Harvard Law School. THey are African Americans and thats harder than it seems in this country. The simple fact that Obama has come this far in this country is proof enough that America is changing. All of these people that are for Hillary say she has more experience. She was married to the pres. Thats all. Besides that Obama and Clinton have the same status. Their positions on issues are pretty much the same. Have you ever been to DHS to receive welfare, that will be what it is like for Clintons health care plan. You will stand in a long line to get a check up from a doctor that is underpaid and doesn’t want to help you because you aren’t paying for your service the gov’t is. The gov’t never expels good service, just the bare minimum. I want everyone to have healthcare too, but not at the expense of the quality of the care. Hillary started making negative attacks first. Obama is just redirecting them. He is not attacking her. She started that when she started losing. She is a sore loser and needs to worry about her campaign and not Obamas. Him using those words was all but necessary. That is his friend and sometimes wise words fall out of our mouth at certain times especially of our friends that we love and communicate with frequently. She was attacking him and he was emphasizing the audacity of her claims. The proposed plagiarizee supported him 100%. She needs to quit trying to find something to ruin him. She is only ruining her reputation. She can’t beat McCain and she knows it. That will be like watching a circus if she is the nominee. They will get so low they will forget what they are campaigning for. Obama hasn’t forgotten yet and he won’t, he believes too much. They don’t believe 100% in their hearts and it shows in their campaigns. Thats the only way to describe what is going on across America. If hillary is the nominee we will surely have a republican white house again and the people of this country will be even more politically exhausted with the way our country is being lead. Get real and see Obama for what he is!! VOTE OBAMA 08!!! OUR FUTURE!!!!

Basic manners: “If you cant say something nice….”

Ms. Clinton is between a rock and a hard place, as any tactic utilized at this point will backfire and make her look bad.

As a previously die-hard republican re. my ideals, I find it surprisingly refreshing that I may be considering Mr. Obama as my first choice….If Ms. Clinton wins the nomination, I’ll be voting for McCain….I simply can’t trust someone whose only tactics are viscious attacks…this is indicative of one who is cornered with no way out.

Comment by ardent observer – February 18, 2008 at 8:00 pm
You people all sound riddiculous. Don’t blow everything out of context. We have a long road ahead and I don’t think there is enough information out on any of the candidates to make a final decision. This is going to effect our lives for the next 4-8 years. There’s a lot more to come in the months of campaigning ahead. I plan to sit back watch and take it all in and then decide. Everyone needs to relax! Enjoy the freedom to vote.

Many who detract from Obama’s substance and knowledge, (like the Clintons)are afraid of the future, and that is not American. Barrack Obama is the new face of America, whether people accept it or not. Young, eloquent, intellegent, multi faceted, multi cultured, and always inspirational to the whole world. It is our chance to make the right change and choose Obama, which will help to transform America for our wellbeing and well being of future generations. In Obama we also will regain the love and respect of the the entire world. Yes we can..

BIG TYPO- OBAMA USING THOSE WORDS WAS COMPLETELY NECESSARY AT THE TIME AND PERTAINING TO THAT COMMENT CLINTON MADE. I meant that him using them is not bad and it was necessary at that time. We talk like our friends and just because he didn’t remember to give him the credit doesn’t mean he was taking it away. Obama is a good man and she is having a hard time finding dirt to bash him with. That is the old way of politics that he is talking about changing. She is the same person doing playing the same games. VOTE OBAMA 08!!!1

Comment by Janet for Obama – February 18, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I am personaly tired of the negative ads from the Clinton camp. I want to make it clear to that if Clinton wins the Democratic primary, I and a lot of Democrats that i know will vote for the Republican candidate.

Comment by Kaycee – February 18, 2008 at 8:05 pm
The negative comments about Obama could have been and many were said of JFK. Religion, inexperience, youth etc. And guess what? The country didn’t implode…

It’s politics people and the future leader of the free world will surround him/herself by smart experienced people to develop policies and the key to success is whether these policies can be implemented. I am exasperated by the fear mongering and partisan politics of the last 8 years.

Senator Clinton’s resorting to negative attacks on Senator Obama shows her desperation that she will do anything to get nominated. It only shows her lack of character. I’m sick and tired of her bragging about her experience. What experience is she talking about. Romney is correct she didn’t even run a corner store. Maybe she was the one calling the shots at the white house during Bill Clinton’s term that’s why she has the guts to tell everybody that she is the the more experienced candidate. Not even her negative criticism of Barack Obama can stop his ascent to the white house.

Agree with Kaycee. The totally negative campaign by Billary (including their surrogates comment on this post) would force me to vote for McCain if Hillary would be the nominee. Democrats squandering another opportunity to capture whitehouse even this time, and either McCain or Hillary would preside over the decline of the U.S. as a superpower. “[Barack Hussein Obama] says he would delay NASA’s controversial moon-to-Mars program five years in order to fund education initiatives.” (Visit http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/obamas_nasa_plan_gets_little_p.php .)

These education initiatives are merely remedial programs (costing billions of dollars) to fix the problem of African-American underperformance in education. Many states have implemented exit exams, which test knowledge at typically the 8th-grade level. A high-school student must pass the exit exam before receiving a diploma. A large percentage of African-Americans regularly fails such exams.

Who is responsible for African-American underperformance in education? These exams test a bare minimum of knowledge. The intellectual level of these exams is so low that failing them means only one thing: you deliberately and willfully refused to learn.

The average American is not responsible for African-Americans’ refusal to learn.

If an African-American exits high-school without a diploma and without any knowledge beyond the 6th grade, that African-American should pay for the full cost of any remedial program. American society should not pay one penny for this kind of program.

Yet, Obama thinks that you and I should pay billions of dollars for this remedial program. Obama intends to gut both the military-defense program and the space program in order to pay for these so-called education initiatives.

These initiatives are not about installing Internet cables in all rural school districts. These initiatives are not about funding advanced science programs in the schools.

These initiatives are about funding remedial programs for people who mock and laugh at the concept of education.

Here is the eye-opening fact: we currently spend more money on public schools than almost all other Western nations. Yet, Barack Hussein Obama wants to waste even more money by pumping additional billions of dollars into public schools.

Vote for Hillary Clinton? YES! WE! CAN!

O.K. enough is enough! Hillary’s baby boomers are calling Obama’s supporters young and ignorant? It’s time to get real. Perhaps we are young and optimistic, however Hillary’s baby boomers are old self centered and greedy. They might be the last generation to own their own homes, collect social security, and have access to health care they can afford. Let’s face it she and Bill had eight years to fix health care, social security, and create truly fair and just trade opportunities for future generations and they didn’t get the job done. Are they going to suffer the consequences of their failures? No! Like most greedy baby boomers they have continued to watch their personal wealth improve dramatically as future generations pay for it. If the Red Faced Perv and Negative Nancy want to sling swamp mud be prepared to drown in it.

Clinton’s experience as an elected official: 7 years.

Obama’s experience as an elected official: 11 years.

The GOP’s best hope for the fall: Clinton mobilizes the conservative base in a way that McCain never will on his own.

The GOP’s worst nighmare for the fall: Obama mobilizes the young and the independents to vote along with all of those Democrats who can never forgive Clinton for giving Bush a blank check for the war.

Who say’s this isn’t a racial election. The ‘great’ oprah, who has never endorsed anyone, all of a sudden endorses barak? And Powell, who is such a ‘great’ republican, endorses him too? And what about Powell saying the exact same thing regarding King and Johnson that Clinton did, but nothing made of that, but Clintons words were racial? Don’t get me wrong, I do think that Obama would make a great president….some day, but think it would have been a hands down winning ticket if Clinton was President and Obama Vice first, then he takes 8yrs. She has met so many world leaders already and he would then be exposed to the workings of the White House and become a natural for the President. The way the last two elections were bought, and the way this one is going, I’ve decided to give up my voting rights, and I know of quite a few more that did also. What a shame!

I find it interesting that many others feel as strongly as I about Hillary getting the nomination. If she does, I just couldn’t vote for her. First she dropped a fake tear or two after being cited for her cold, steely persona. Hubby Bill followed up with the race card in South Carolina. Then she dropped her Latino Campaign Manager and now has an African American by her side. We won’t dwell on her negative campaign smears. Finally, I, too, question her “35 years experience”. In the beginning, I could have gone either way … for Barack or Hillary. But now I feel that she has no integrity in her quest to win. I sure hope the super delegates are paying attention to the fact that not only will the Republicans turn out in droves to vote against Clinton, her nomination will turn also away many Democrats and Independents.

What is the difference between a Democratic operative and a regular Democrat? An operative always supports the Democrats and the current “political fashion”. A regular Democrat actually thinks for herself and may, occasionally, vote across party lines for the better candidate.
=
The folks supporting a Clinton-Obama ticket are operatives.
=
The folks supporting Hillary Clinton and opposing the selection of Barack Hussein Obama to be vice president are regular Democrats. Obama lacks the qualifications to be vice president. He should remain a senator.
=
If we want a “minority” to be vice-president, then we should consider Shelby Steele, Thomas Sowell, Norman Mineta, and the like.

Oh my “lobster”…. i hope you advocate for Hillary to every democrat out there. That was the most racist piece of crap that could ever be called a statement. Listen people. WE ARE DEMOCRATS. Meaning: we are the party who has consistently fought for equal rights. If Hillary supporters keep spreading this racist ignorance you will be your own worst enemy. I could care less who each person votes for because in the end it is our right to come to our own conclusions. However, anyone who says Barack Obama has no substance has clearly not researched him. You can go to his website and read his “Blueprint for Change” Anyone who does not believe he can lead better than Clinton merely needs to look at thier successes and failures running their campaigns (which are the biggest enterprises either have ever ran). Clinton not only completely underestimated her opponant and overestimated herself, but she also only made a game plan through super tuesday and blew through 140 million dollars and had to loan herself money to get out of the financial bind she got herself into. She completely flew by wisconsin until the media echoed how bad it looked on her and she then decided to come use Wisconsin for her own agenda. She has completely ignored, insulted, or stated all 24 states that Obama won as being insignifigant. She uses petty tactics when under pressure instead of pushing her experience for the win. There have been numerous accounts of infighting inside her campaign and that is not within a divided group… they are all for her. She has taken more money from lobbyist and special interest groups than any other candidate on eather side, and for some mysterious reason will not release her tax returns until after the nomination? Obama on the other hand blew Nevada in his stradegy and admitted it then voed he would correct the problem and did so. He has outfunded her without taking money from lobbyist and in fact if you go to donate to him you have to check off an oath that you are not only not a lobbyist or special interest group but also not affiliated with one. His money comes directly from the people. His message has stayed consistant from the start. He uses a message that involves the people in his vision instead of saying “HE WILL FIX ALL PROBLEMS”… like HRC can do it all without the american people behind her. He has gone to every state and given them a piece of himself. His one weakness is that he sometimes becomes too focused on speeches and forgets to add substance, but if you actually look into his policies he is very detailed and brilliant in his thinking. He needs to blow every one away in this next debate and just talk policy without trying to keep it simple enough for everyone to understand. Let everyone just drop their jaws because he can be so in depth, which he can. His problem when he does so and the reason he avoids it is his large vocabulary. He tends to go over peoples heads because of how he words his thought process. It is quite a conundrum. If he doesn’t speak about policies people become afraid it is because he doesn’t understand them. If he does talk about policy, he sometimes uses language the people themselves don’t understand. I would love if he just overcame this problem and tried to put his policies as simple as possible but we all know this can be hard to do if you aren’t scripted. We will see what happens.

A worker in the campaign for Barack Hussein Obama wrote, “I will vote for Obama because he has leadership qualities.”
=
That is an emotional statement. Most non-African-Americans support Obama on the sole basis of emotion.
=
We should use facts and policies to judge the candidates. Barack Hussein Obama has stated, clearly, that he will gut both the space program and the defense program in order to divert billions of dollars into public schools.
=
Yet, we now spend more money on public schools than nearly all other Western nations. We spend 35% more money than Germany.
=
Lack of money is not the problem in education. The problem is the culture of Americans — and, especially, African-Americans.
=
The Germans spend substantially less money than we do, yet German youth know far more on graduation day than American youth.
=
Nonetheless, Obama wants to waste additional billions of dollars on public schools. When Barack Hussein Obama says, “change”, his “change” means wasting billions of dollars on programs that do not need the money.

Barack Hussein Obama is a master politician. His campaign assigns workers (including volunteers) to monitor the most prominent web sites. Whenever a negative comment about him arises, the workers create a commotion (including accusations of racism) to silence the writer of the negative comment.
===
This coercive behavior went into high gear after “moveon.org” endorsed Barack Hussein Obama.
===
The behavior of both the workers for the campaign of Barack Hussein Obama and the workers for “moveon.org” is identical to the behavior of pro-Kremlin bloggers.

If you are a reporter for a reputable news organization like the “New York Times”, then you have about 2 weeks to produce an eye-opening story about the political techniques used by Barak Hussein Obama and his supporters. The next major Democratic primary will occur in about 2 weeks.

The big deal is not that Obama borrowed words from Mr. Patrick; the big deal is that Obama did not give Mr. Patrick any credit in his speech. It doesn’t matter if Obama had Mr. Patrick’s approval to use his words, based on a private conversation. Mr. Biden when he ran for presidential primary in 1980s lost because of plagiarism and he still kicks himself for that episode because he was a very promising candidate, back then. If Obama can steal words, there is no telling what else he will steal or do stealthily once he is a president. This is ironic because Obama takes pride in being authentic, genuine, possessing leadership qualities! Stealing words reflects on his lack of originality, lack of creativity, lack of ingenuity, and gives the impression that he is more of a follower than a leader! Rhetoric is his strong suit and if that is flawed, then his candidacy is flawed!

While we’re here why not talk about the amount of Sexism being tolerated in this country. Imagine if someone asked John McCain “How do we beat the Boy?” or suggested that Michelle Obama was being “pimped out” or yelled “Shine my shoes.” during an Obama gathering. The media and America would be outraged, and rightfully so. This being the case, why do we except it aimed at women?

Barack Obama is a wild card. We have no idea what he stands for; he is 100% politician, and 0% leader. How can we vote for a man who ony tells us what we want to hear. We have no idea what he would actully do as president.

Most presidents are elected because they are charasmatic and they play on our emotions rather than our minds, but before Obama they drew themselves lines on how far they would take it. Obama just wants to win so badly, so that he can add president to his list of life achievments.

He is the world’s most powerful yes-man of all time.

Never say that someone represents “change”. It means nothing; what kind of change?

I have never heard agood defense of Obama. People who say that they like him usually haven’t exained the race very closly, or else have, but ignore the obvious faults because they are blinded by their emotions.

He could e a good president, but he is no more likely to be a good president than someone I have never heard of before, because I have no idea what either would do.

Obama has not said bad things about Clinton.
Hillary: Accepted her Husbands infidility and supported him during his sex episodes.
Obama: Voted against the Iraq War and keep up the attacks on Bush when even the press was afraid of the Bush Administration and toed the line.
Clinton:Voted for the war and only apologised at the debates and not before.
Obama: Has not accepted the moneys for this campaign from the Big Companies
Clinton: Accepted even ,ore money than McCain!

Obama has stayed honorable in his choice of words for Clinton & said good things about her but says tht now is the time for change.
The choice for me is clear as day and night. OBAMA!

Obama has 11 years of experience as a legislator and has a very strong intellect. He has detailed policies as well, he just doesn’t rely on him when he speaks because it’s easier to draw a contrast with your opponent (whose policies are the same 95% of the time) in areas where you are vastly stronger than her. You’d see him stress policy ideas much more against McCain, you can be sure of that. But let’s not forget that the American president is not an autocrat, and the presidency is partly a bully pulpit. Leading the nation is more than being a bureaucrat and policy wonk. And he has the policy chops, to boot.

You have turned yourself deaf on Obama’s speeches. He has laid out plans for Health, Education & Economy and other items like defence and Immigration!!

Looks like you just woke up, we have known him and most Americans and the West World has known him since his stance on the Iraq War. He is the only Senetor who call Col. Powell and ask him to resign and Powell did in due course. How is that for leadership?

However, after spending 6 years in the army, living in different parts of America, I believe Senator Obama is the only candidate who appeals to millions of Americans regardless of their race, income level, or sex. As far as the phrases Hillary supposedly copied, they were common phrases used for decades, if not centuries. He shouldn’t act as if he had a copyright on a 3-5 word phrase.

He took an entire paragraph for Christ’s sake.

KenG,
Obama didn’t say negative things about Hillary? Forgot the SC debate when Obama started attacking Hillary for working for Wal-Mart? Both candidates engaged in negative attacks. In recent speeches Obama said Hillary was running because she thought Americans owed her the top job. What’s that about? TRUTH IS BOTH DEM CANDIDATES ARE USELESS. WAKE UP AND FACE THE TRUTH.

Comment by AL – February 18, 2008 at 10:57 pm
here is everyone calling out racism again. and you people are trying to tell me that it is a good thing that other people write his “wonderful” speeches.

this is why he won’t debate hillary one on one? because he needs his words scripted for him? what a left-wing puppet.

Wow. I sure hope that the posters here do not represent the majority of Americans. I am embarrassed by comments from all sides (Obama, Clinton, and McCain).

I will be voting for Hillary Clinton tomorrow. This is why:

1. She wants to get rid of NCLB. Obama only wants to reform it. Standardized testing is leaving all children behind and Obama does not realize this.

2. Clinton has a more comprehensive and inclusive health care plan. Even John Edwards has said that it is superior to Obama’s.

3. I feel that Hillary Clinton’s plan to reform the way veterans receive care physically and mentally is superior to Obama’s.

4. Hillary Clinton blows away Obama and McCain when it comes to economics.

5. Clinton’s foreign policy is superior to Obama’s.

And for those people who think that the Clinton campaign is putting out “Negative advertisements”, you must have missed the last few elections. The ads are bubble gum in comparison…and btw, Obama hasn’t really been 100% positive with his ads either. It’s a game called politics, kids. 😉

alan,
Great advice. In fact, I’m ready to vote for Condy Rice. But I will never vote for Obama. Race isn’t the issue. Obama’s ties with George Soros and his big Govt proposals scare me. Also, I’ll never vote for Hillary. Again, it’s not her gender… it’s her platform that scares me.

Comment by AL – February 18, 2008 at 11:02 pm
There isn’t a candidate in either party that I find signifiacantly interesting enought to vote for. But what is interesting watching the fight that is now going on within the democratic party over who get the nomination. It will derfinately be good entertainment to watch the democratic party self-destruct on CNN.

Comment by Kevin Wilson – February 18, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I agree about the “negative advertisments” comment from wisconsin democrat. In case you missed it in 2004 when the GOP turn Sen. Kerry (a veteran) into a coward.

Comment by PA democrat – February 18, 2008 at 11:05 pm
I sure am looking forward to having Hillary Rodham Clinton as the Democratic nominee.

Why you ask?

Well, because we get to be reminded of all of Bill’s infidelities, and maybe we get to see a few more sexual harrassment victims paraded out.

We get to see the Monica Lewinsky embrace over and over again. And we get to experience the oldies but goodies of Linda Tripp and Ken Star, Whitewater and Travelgate, Jennifer Flowers and Paula Jones, Vince Foster and the infamous blue dress. And who can forget those riveting impeachment hearings.

We’ll get to hear more about questionable fundraising– maybe the Clintons will sell sleep over nights in the White House again.

I know I’m missing a whole bunch of fun and intriguing facts, but don’t worry, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glen Beck, Fox News, and all our “friends” on the right will be there to remind us over and over again.

But seriously, I don’t know why the Clintons are a beloved figures in the Democratic Party. They are responsible for the backlash that gave us Bush in 2000. The Clintons did so much damage with with their personal behavior that it is primarily their fault there were less Democrats in elected office in 2000 than in 1992. They didn’t grow the party, they sucked the life out of it.

My question is– why does anyone think it is going be any different?

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s behavior is unconscionable. The Clinton’s don’t have the country’s best interest in mind; they don’t care what is best for the Democratic Party; they care about what is best for the Clintons.

They are Karl Rove in Democratic clothing. Look at their recent behavior.
They are masters of manipulation, skilled in the arts of distortion, deception, and the politics of personal destruction. And if you call them on it then you are ganging up on them.

People, listen up! This is only going to get worse. They use to hold the title of the most divisive forces in American politics. I would put them second behind Bush for now, but stay tuned; they will reclaim the title if they continue on their current trajectory.

Why do you think all the Republicans had been focused on her? Because they want her to be the nominee. Half of the country will not vote for her! And after the Clinton’s unconscionable, shameless behavior, can you blame them?!

If you want the country to stay in Iraq for 100 years and continue the disastrous policies of the Bush Administration, then make the Clintons the Democratic nominee because the Republican will win in November.

Oh, and as an added “bonus”, if you want to give the Republicans a chance to take back the House and Senate, make the Clintons the nominee. Making the Clintons the nominee will be the best thing for the Republican Party.

Folks, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Vote for someone who can build a broad coalition to solve some of our nations most pressing problems. Vote for someone who has demonstrated the right kind of experience and judgement. Someone who is intelligent, who inspires, who builds up as opposed to tears down.

Vote for Barack Obama!

Instead of listening to the deception and distortion put out by the Clinton machine, examine his record and his positions at the source, http://www.barackobama.com Or read his book “The Audacity of Hope.”

It would be truly tragic for our country if we go “Back to the Future” with a third Clinton administration and continue 4 more years of gridlock, infighting, partisan bickering, and politics of personal destruction. But I guess we can always look at the bright side; we might finally find out what the meaning of the word “is” is.

Comment by Jeff – February 18, 2008 at 11:08 pm
I think comments that categorize young voters as ‘mindless’ and ‘ignorant’ are completely unnecessary. Saying that Obama will only win because we’re dumb enough to rally behind him because we don’t know any better? That’s ignorant. Sure, some young voters don’t research the issues enough and end up voting based on arbitrary reasons. Can’t that happen at any age though? In the end, my vote is worth just as much as yours. Stop insulting other voters for superficial reasons and start worrying about how you can support your candidate.

The discussion over plaigerism amazes me. All of these so-called plaigerised comments are in public domain, ESPECIALLY those made by people who have been dead for more than 50 years. Even those generated in this campaign, such as “fired up and ready to go” are, I would suspect, not copy

I believe that Obama’a actions and bahaviors as a state Senator and US Senator and in this election demonstrate that he has the least qualification to lead this country amog all the cadidates counting both parties. He is a try luck candicate and he lacks the passion, heart, characters and capability to be a president of the US. Certainly he has no ay experiences to perform ths tough job. But experieces are not his the very vital weak points. His very vital weakness is his terrible characters and the motive in this campaign. Clearly he has done a lot of dark things to his opponent, Hillary. He humiliated her, snubs her, mocks her credibility and capability. He attacks her by the most negative ad before vote in Nevade. He said that HIllary does ot respect latino voters. He has tried very hard to hit and humilliate Hillary by lobbing her

Obama’s Muslim dad was also a Harvard PhD. Not all Muslims are Bin Ladens. Obama is a Christian, and he’s a Harvard grad too. There’s nothing wrong about Obama’s race or religion. What’s wrong is his platform — which is basically George Soros’ big Govt platform. Hillary’s platform is equally bad. Vote for McCain!

Comment by ABC – February 18, 2008 at 11:28 pm
I am quite shocked by the ignorance of my fellow Americans. This is not a race issue ladies and gentleman and if it is then it is Hillary with the race disparities for Obama is a few races put into one. You guys are looking at the color of his skin and not the content of his character. I have once loved Hillary but now I see she is low down. For “lobster” realize that those kids are our future. The kids in Germany are not influenced by videos, video games, ipods and cell phones the way American kids are. Everything starts with a vision, O bama has a vision to move the world forward but how can he expect you Americans to promote change, the same idiots that voted Bush into seat for 8 years. If you don’t like what Obama stands for come live in my shoes and in my world for a weak so that you can see its not all about the wealthy. Some people that do not have money are good people that haven;t been given a fair chance. Hillary is looking for anything to bounce back only problem she will never find anything concrete in a great man like Obama. By the way she can’t beat McCain with her eyes closed. If we get McCain the war will continue but with worst conditions. Hey :lobster” I hope you are a male so McCain can send your ignorant self over to Iraq too.

Comment by AlishaB – February 18, 2008 at 11:30 pm
Have you read Comment by Al – Februar18, 2008 at 11:02 p.m.? He has some concrete concerns. I would like to believe that Obama or Clinton might be the candidate(s) for change; however, Washington is the party of money. The two Democratic candidates bring new decor to an old political landscape. Their influence has generated an emotional response; the reaction is noteworthy, but when the 2008 presidential election is over, what will really change for the upper middle class, the middle class, the poor, and the working poor? Like American Idol, we are more likely to feel some sort of satisfaction knowing someone we were emotionally tied to achieved significant merit, whether that merit is becoming the next big pop singer or the forthcoming president of the United States. People commonly attach their feelings to images and symbols that reflect their ambitions and goals – we want to associate with newness, change, possibility, hope; we want to see our dreams manifest in this time and place is some fashion or another. So the interest in Obama and Clinton is understandable. The Republicans have a big battle on their hands! But when everything is said and done, will America still be on the same course? Will we have new clothing on the same old body? Obama doesn’t have the amount of experience Clinton does; however, in the current political climate, experience is often related to being tied to the elite insiders who have financially influenced the direction of our democracy at the cost of the average citizen. I am surprised at the trivial attacks on Obama by Clinton, the most recent, using quotes from others, is rediculous. Obama has navigated a clean campaign; he has not brought up any number of damaging topics relating to Clinton: her failure to address health care during Bill’s eight years in office; her failure to signigicantly improve education, her cattle futures trading problem, and her recent “files” that she refuses to share with the media or public. Currently, Obama is running a cleaner campaign; he is a better candidate for change because he dosen’t have the more deeply entrenched networks with the “good old boys” like Clinton does – like others have said, this makes him more Kennedy-esque. Examine one issue – health care, universal or not. Any significant changes in the current health care system, or even a move to a universal health care system, will be trouble. Modifications to the current health system will not occur without the consent of the insurance companies; therefore, if the insurance companies support health care change, or some version of universal health care, count on this, the new framework will not be good for the American consumer. I’m not sure if this is an example of what AL was referring to, but Democrat, or Republican, Washington is the party of money!

Comment by Bret – February 18, 2008 at 11:35 pm
AL, Good point about Obama’s education. If we are going to be holding anything against Obama, it shouldn’t be his race, religion, platform, etc., it should be the fact that he is a Harvard grad. Hehehe.

Comment by Latina for Barack – February 18, 2008 at 11:49 pm
HILLARY’S “EXPERIENCE”… Flunked her law exam twice… worked her ENTIRE CAREER in Arkansas as a CORPORATE LAWYER, defending big corporations like Tyson and WalMart against lawsuits. She also sat on several corporate boards and got paid well for doing so. And the law firm she worked for, the Rose Law firm, represented some of the companies where Hillary was a board member. Very few law firms will have this sort of “duel” relationship, where an employee of theirs is a board member on a client’s board of directors. This is considered to be a major conflict of interest, but this never bothered Hillary much. As long as there is money involved for her, a mere conflict of interest is nothing to her.

Her experience after Arkansas? We all know it: First Lady…. “Chief Scandel Control Officer”… and Health Care Reform FAILURE.

Then the last 6 years as NY Senator… which, by the way, is 5 years LESS EXPERIENCE than Barack Obama has in ELECTED PUBLIC OFFICE. He served as State Senator of Illinois for 8 years, and has been U.S. Sentor for the last 3 years.

On the subject of experience, I believe Hilary is missing the point, George Bush can say he has experience, one question: who would vote for him nowadays if he could run for office? Hey but he has almost 8 years of on the job experience. All living in Washington does, is teaching you how to become vindictive and cynical. So in other words, Obama needs more seasoning because he is not cynical enough.
The best time for Obama to be president is now, while he is in a transition period, 8 years from now he will be just another old cynical politician like Mc Cain who apparently thinks there should be an american presence in every section of the globe.
On healthcare, I am worried about it because talking to some canadian colleague it seems like it might take 3 months before you can get an opening to see a dentist over there. What will happen when companies stop offering coverage, apparently if they do not cover you, you will have to take it out of your own pocket: wouldn’ t it encourage them to stop offering insurance?
Lobbyists; Wasn’ t there a scandal about a chinese lobbyist when Bill was roaming in the white House? Where was Hilary then? fast forward-
Where did the 5 millions really come from, if you have nothing to hide, show me the withdrawal slip. Simple.
Where did CNN pull that latest poll from? a few weeks ago Clinton was leading by 10 in Texas and the 2 candidates are neck and neck. Give me a break. Mark my words soon Hilary will become the underdog in Texas. CNN is just making it interesting. Period.
NO to Policing the world, NO to a welfare state, YES voting for the Iraq war was a mistake. The best candidate for me would be RON PAUL but he does not stand a chance, in the meantime I can only dream….
The only choice left: OBAMA 08

HILLARY: release your tax records for public scrutiny. Obama aleady has. This is standard practice for someone to do who is running for the highest office in the country.

Why did you say you would release your tax records AFTER the Democratic convention? Why not now???

Is it because of the money you and Bill have received from foreign dictators?? Is this where you got the $5 million you “loaned” your own campaign, after bankrupting yourself because of bad financial planning?

Wow!!
I am always surprised at the incredible lack of grammar, intelligence and common sense that the most negative respondents use. (I am sure that Hillary is thrilled beyond comprehension that she has received resounding endorsement from people that can’t put together two complete and grammatically correct sentences).
The things that seperate Obama and Clinton are very small– and lets face it– things will change drastically once a pres has to work with a congress that also has their own ideas and agenda.
Ultimately this race comes down to personalities and likes. One perosn is capable of oratory skills not seen in politics in a long long time. The other comes with a business attitude–
One comes with a desire to unite the country and the reach across parties– the other feels like her experience will make things happen by her sheer strength alone.
Both are talking Universal themes and both have used other people’s words– although one side uses their opponets words cause even tho they are just words they are better than hers.
Change isn’t coming it’s here. Look at the way we are all involved and motivated and we haven’t even reached a nominee yet. I hate to say it, but its do to 2 things (and Hillary isn’t one of them)-
1) NO MORE BUSH!! NO REPUBS!!
2) Obama– who– say what you will– has energized a lethargic non interested–easily beat up upon Democratic Party.
If thats not the ultimate sign of Leadership skills and one thats needed now—
well truly only the educated are forging ahead with OBAMA!!

I think he would work for the American people and not for himself. I firmly believe he will work to make America a better place for all of our citizens. He may make some mistakes but I’ll bet he will stand up and admit them and then try to correct them. I’m participating in early voting and will cast my vote in the morning. Senator Obama is an honest intelligent man. As my senator I have sat in the same room with him for several hours. You can tell. I trust him to make decisions.

The more I hear from Sen Clinton the less I like her.

I see bumper stickers on cars in the midwest that say “Anyone but Hillary”. If she is the Democratic candidate, the democrats will lose the fall election. The vast majority of Americans do NOT want her for president. IT is not because she is a woman. I think we have moved past that. It is because she will do anything to win. Her experience??? I am amazed at the racist in Wisconsin. I am not one that everything is about race–but reading this blog I am glad I do not live there. Allow me to say one thing. I am a former Clinton supporter and would like to say–negative campaigning does not for our party or our country. The reason I chose to swith from the clintons because they have demonstrated time an again that they will do absolutely anything to win. I realize we have to strong candidates but my fear is at the end of this campaign and blogs like this–we will hand this country over to the republicans. If that happens we are all doomed. You see poverty does not have a race or color. Poverty is not racist, home foreclosures are not just impacting blacks and latinos, it is impacting everyone regardless of race, gender or religious beliefs. 47 million Americans lack healthcare–any improvements to a failing system will help but you all are too stupid to realize that–because you are so full of hate for one another and other countries hate all of us. So, whether you feel you cannot support Obama because of his middle name just adds to the demographics the pollsters are describing (e.g. uneducated, make less than $50,000 per year, etc.). If you any of you had any level of intelligence you would not make such racist and insensitive comments. But I will leave you all with this–to each man there comes a time or a day when you will be forced to answer for your hatred to your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray for Senator Obama and his family because I do not know why he would risk his life, reputation and everything he and his family have worked hard to achieve to represent and fight for you selfish, unworthy, unhappy individuals. May God Bless and Keep all of the haters–because you are going to need it.

This country needs someone who is new and fresh. I am tired of seeing the same old names and faces in Washington. Obama has outlined in detail what he intends to do and it doesn’t differ all that much from Clinton. However, in this job, vision and words do mean a lot. Obama has a way that allows him to communicate with others extremely well. In the job of president, communication is a #1 priority. I feel he will have the best chance at actually getting things done in our divided Washington. He has my vote!

HILLARY CLAIMS TO HAVE 35 YRS EXPERIENCE? IF SHE’S BEEN AT IT FOR 35 YRS AND STILL HASN’T FIXED IT, THEN SHE’S PART OF THE PROBLEM. IF 8 YRS AS FIRST LADY QUALIFIES HER TO BE PRESIDENT, THEN DOES A LADY THAT HAS BEEN MARRIED TO A BRAIN SURGEON FOR 15 YRS QUALIFY HER TO DO BRAIN SURGERY? GET REAL! THE CLINTONS ARE OVER THE HIIL, AND HOPEFULLY HEADED FOR THE BARN.

I feel ur pain sweetie… I see how u have been blinded by the phony clinton machine. what makes hillary qualified? for marrying bill, a former president? her campaign has been yelling experience, experience! infact, what is she experienced at? do YOU know? her record has been locked in her husband’s library – they won’t release it; she won’t release her tax info either… obama is not pushing hard for this. Do you think the republicans will not push either? wake up! the clintons will do whatever, just for poilitical gain! if she is the nominee…. there goes a third term bush regime. Obama is the Republicans’ nightmare. That’s why they’re pushing for clinton to be the nominee.

I would say Hillary sucks, however, if she had Al Gore would have been president and we would not be in the mess we are now in, i.e. Iraq, recession, housing crisis, energy ripoff ,etc.etc.etc.

As far as leadership goes, which candidate with vision? Who has been able to energize support? If she cannot even manage her campaign, how can she manage our country? Day One? I don’t think so.

Curious to note: one takes words from a friend who is high in one’s judgment. The VP must be intelligent and someone Obama can enjoy breakfast with. Have you thought the gov of Mass is on his short short list for VP

Comment by Lohengrin – February 19, 2008 at 2:56 am
It amazes me Clinton supporters complain that 1)Obama supporters are only the educated elites, not “real” people and 2)they are mindless drones only voting on their emotions. Somehow these seem contradictory. As a low income, recently insured, Asian female I support Obama because I agree with his policies and stances more than hers and because I want to live in his America, not hers. Thoughts are important, convictions are important, past behavior is important, actions are important. This is why I am voting for Obama.

Obama ‘08!

To the idiot who said democrats will drive up taxes and run big business off.

It’s the increased uncontrolled spending that will increase your taxes in the future. The pennies you save in taxes now from the Bush tax cuts will be taken later by whatever president happens to be in office, because simply one must pay their bills and keep their debt under control.

Big Business is about making money and seriously it makes more sense to hire 5 indians or russians, for what you pay one american to do.

American loves cheap goods, which means cheap labor from china because no american is going to work for pennies a day and no health care.

Taxes isn’t running big business off. It’s our love of cheap made goods and their love of increasing profits.

If you want to encourage business to move to America and hire American workers, then go out, spend a little more, and buy the American made goods.

Remember Big Business will supply what the American consumer wants.

Seems to me that the only reason people are considering voting for Hillary is her last name. Same ignorance that gets corrupt buffoons in India (Gandhi), Pakistan (Bhutto), and the United States (Bush) elected.

If she had stuck with Rodham, she probably wouldn’t even be a Senator. She cannot get elected on her own merits.

Comment by Tired of Clitory – February 19, 2008 at 3:10 am
There is just absolutely too much negativity being stated in most of these comments. The problem i have with the comments is that they are all personal attacks on people you don’t even know. If you just stated that i will not vote for this person or that person because their ideas are not exactly what i need, then fine. To go after someone because of their name, race, religion and sometimes experience is ridiculous. I would dare say that the President we have serving now is no way near the smartest person we could have chosen but he’s there. The experience of being a President comes when you sit your but in that seat. You cannot possibly know what it’s like to be The President of The U.S. of America until you serve. All this hared that i am reading is disgusting. I am risking my life over here in IRAQ and other crappy countries so that my AMRERICAN Family can live in PEACE and HARMONY. This is how you pay respect to the people that actually cares, by name calling and disrespect to your fellow citizen. Well i invite you internet heroes to visit IRAQ, SOMALIA, ETHIOPIA, IRAN, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA and there’s more. I guarantee that your respect for the AMERICAN CITIZEN will be alot different than it is now. Please visit a country where life means nothing short of a bullet. Try living thru another couple dozen Presidents that care about nothing but the rich while we have people starving and homeless. WELL THAT IS SHAMEFUL AND A DISGRACE TO ALL MANKIND!!! The richest country in the world, with some of the brightest minds and we can’t figure out how to provide HEALTHCARE to the citizens that keep this country running. I have a suggestion. Let’s put a cap on the rich. Let’s stop the madness of the rich getting super rich and the poor getting poorer. The drug companies and others that are losing their minds with these ridiculously high prices. We can make the changes together. You are right, Obama is not the answer by himself. The American problems aren’t going to be solved by Obama but by us and Obama or Hillary or whomever it is. The politicians can only do what We The People allow them to do.

Comment by Charles of S.C. – February 19, 2008 at 3:10 am
To be clear – I am talking about corrupt buffoons who use the good name of someone worthwhile.

Indira & Rajiv Gandhi rode the wave of good will from the last name of Mahatma Gandhi. Both had corruption issues

Benazir Bhutto rode her father’s last name right to a coup because of her corruption.

Bush…

And now Hillary Clinton… I just don’t see what she brings to the table? Being President is more than spouting policy. And can you imagine her EVER admitting she is wrong? Sound’s like Bush to me.

And it seems to me that Hillary is exactly the same as Bush. Always right, annoying smirk, and a sense of ENTITLEMENT to the job.

Plus, if her supporters want names, I think I prefer Hussein to Clitory.

Obama will win big today, and looks like he’ll win Texas in two weeks time. Should Obama not be nominated because of back-room dealings, he should consider running as an independent and probably win. The Clintons are not any different from McCain.

Comment by Deborah Liu – February 19, 2008 at 3:44 am
who r these people that would represent us and the US?
Clinton scares me. She has such a strange way of showing herself as genuine, understanding and
friendly. It goes back some way.
Obama makes the right noises, looks the part and shows he’s able.
McCain. Well maybe not.
I feel Obama will win. Do great things and then attempts will b made to assasinate him in order to neutralise his achievement of unifying the American people.
Fingers crossed. His either smart enough to know this or he will not win…

To Tampa Dave (at 3:50 p.m.)

When you were examining Obama’s senatorial record, what accomplishments were you exactly looking for? A Senator’s job is to make laws with 99 other Senators. It’s a collective effort, not an individual undertaking. If the measure of a good presidential candidate were the number of bills he has authored, then we should have all voted for Sen. Joe Biden, who has authored most major criminal law initiatives for the last 25 years.

Part of the economic mess was brought about by Bill Clinton’s NAFTA. Are you saying now that Hillary is here to clean up after Bill?

Comment by RFBorjal – February 19, 2008 at 4:08 am
I don’t seems to understand why American people should ever vote for Hilary. She had the chance to so something for American people when her husband was the president. Now tell me, what does she wants again. She is nothing but someone tryint to ruin the country. You can see she is getting money from lobbyist. What do you think she will do when she gets in. Of course try to pay the lobbyist back by putting suffering on American People. Please remember if you want to get rid of Bush, then remember Clinton is a wrong choice. If you do vote for Clinton, is like giving President Bush another term in office.

Comment by Aniekan – February 19, 2008 at 4:21 am
Most people supporting Hillary are those that have vow a black man will never be President of America. Well i’m so glad for the whites Voters who have voted Obama and will continue voting Obama because they need a change in Power and a change in ways things are going. Bill Clinton started this mess in our country. Is hilary going to clean up her husband mess or try to inflict more wounds. All what she is doing is to get money from Lobbyist, who have vow to inflict suffering on American People.

I wish people had scrutinized GW Bush like their now doing to Obama. Money and lives would have been saved. As to Hillary vs. Obama, look at how each has managed their campaigns. They show you how they would run their administrations. Hillary, like GW Bush, hired an ineffective but loyal staff. They blew a 20 point national lead. Obama has put together an innovative effective team that has embarassed the “Clinton machine”. Obama is the choice of those who repudiate the Bush/Clinton ways.

Hillary is over and just crying like a little child now days.

Wisconsin will go Obama and you Clinton fans know it.

I read that Texas is now near even already.

When Hillary loses Ohio and Texas in a couple of weeks, you Clinton fans can have a good cry and then just deal with it.

Hillary is so over that we need to put a fork in her and turn her over so she is not burned even more.

This contest is going to decided by voters over national security & taxes.
John McCain believes it is better to bomb those that disagree with him.
Barack Obama believes it is better to make an attempt to talk some sense first.
John McCain is a flip flopper that opposed president Bush’s tax cuts because they were not offset by spending cuts. He said this was reckless and now he supports this plan and has issued his own “no new tax” pledge.
It would appear as though the choice on taxes boils down to a “tax & spend” democrat or a “borrow & spend” republican.
Borrow & spend sounds like a spoiled child saying; ” Don’t worry, my parents will pay for it”.
A 9 trillion defect that was less than 4 trillion in 2001 is a national crime.
We spend 25 billion dollars each month on our national credit card because McCain and the whole republican party lied to us when they said they were the party of fiscal conservatism and responsible spending.
Pay as you go is the best course to restrengthen our currency and restore investor confidence in America again.
